Random rec that I know @cshadows2887 tossed on his list, Winterhawk - Electric Warriors. Hard rock from the late 70s and the band is/was comprised of Indigenous men from the San Diego area. I have a few spots open on my list that I'll definitely be adding any recommendations from the thread that I haven't heard yet to.

Some of my favorite discoveries from MWE of years past… all four of these records create worlds of their own and deserve to be heard.

    Pet Shop Boys - Behaviour
Impeccable and ambitious pop music that glides between smart club anthems and windswept symphonic ballads. Underneath the sheen is a lyrical tempest of what it’s like to live through the party scene and AIDS crisis of the 80s and see your friends fall away from you. Likely inspired a lot of the 1975’s more polished music.

    Joni Mitchell - Hejira
Literally the sound of winter. Brilliant metaphor-laden stories filtered through a first person perspective tumble out at their own cadence. They’re aided by a singer who always seems to know exactly what unexpected thing the universe wants her to do with her chiming bell of a voice. If you have never listened to Joni Mitchell but are a fan of singer songwriters, I highly recommend you dip into this lonely room aside a cold lakeside shore.

The Waterboys - This Is The Sea
Massive, anthemic, soulful rock songs, often covered in horns, from a British folk rock band that sound like they’re trying to break through a wall to communicate to you. Probably could’ve been as big as U2 if they didn’t feel so raw and mercurial, like an exposed nerve or a sudden burst of cold air into your chest. Put this on, learn the lyrics enough to shout along, and uplift yourself.

Lucinda Williams - Car Wheels On A Gravel Road
Perfectly titled, this mix of rock and folk songwriting comes alive with Williams’ truly singular, dusty voice. Evocative lyrics about lost barfly musicians, prison yards, and high school sweethearts that feel like they’re coming from a woman channeling the world’s hope and heartbreak into a book of memories. Especially worth checking out if you were a fan of Waxahatchee’s last record.

If anyone likes post-rock and wants a deep cut, Natural Process by New Century Classics is gorgeous. Been my grading music today so I though of it.
