When We Were Young Festival (Las Vegas) Tour • Page 11

Yeah, this is what I was getting at before. This is arguably the "best" line-up of any festival I've seen, in terms of the weight & pull. There would've been similar line-ups back in the day in the scene, but they wouldn't have had the same pull at the time.

I remember the R&B/hip-hop fest from LN but completely forgot it was only one day. I guess in that context LN have form, so I have to rescind what I said before. It does seem an odd formula though. As I mentioned in another post, its not the first When We Were Young festival, but its the first that's only a single day (and this scale).

It does seem inevitable that they'll add a repeat second day (who knows, maybe a third!), based on the fact they did it for the slightly less popular R&B incarnation (although I do remember that line-up doing the rounds, so I don't want to underplay how popular it was).

Even if it’s something comparable to this it still sucks conflict wise

I know it's a mockup but now I want to see Knocked Loose go into Car Seat Headrest.

Idk the complaint that there are TOO many good artists on a bill because there will be inevitable clashes seems like such a fake problem to me lol

What really sucks is when you go a festival where you only want to see 2-4 of the artists and they end up clashing.

If I only get to see 20 bands out of the 30 I like, that will be…perfectly fine and still an amazing day.

As someone that has had to endure a LOT of long, hot, boring festivals where pop-punk/punk/hardcore/emo/etc was considered a novelty just to see 4-5 bands I care about on an entire bill, I have no problem wanting to see 15+ bands on a festival.

  9. I'm glad people quickly came around on the one-day/three-stage situation being too fucked to be worthwhile.
Seems like it'll be a day of die-hards and rich folks haha

I had a few Warped shows that featured 10 - 15 bands I really wanted to see. This is pretty much that. Not too big of a deal.

    I can’t go to this, though. :(

  11. Wow, what a lineup. Would be cool to go.

They can’t put MCR and Paramore against each other. Idk what I would do.

Lol at them writing Puppy instead of Poppy.
Looking at the Once Upon a Time poster as well as the schedule, it looks like 9 out of the 10 big bold names ended up on the main stage. Which makes me think you'll be able to see MCR, Paramore, BMTH, ADTR, JEW and Avril on the same stage without conflicts, with probably Bright Eyes being that one top line name that closes a side stage.

Still, even with all the conflicts on this mock schedule, I could still have an incredible day.

Is anyone else excited at the prospect of those rotating stages? Honestly sounds like the funniest way for a band to come out during a set.

Also I was counting and there's 15 female led acts on this lineup. For a festival that's focused on a period/scene that was very male dominated and misogynistic, I was kinda impressed that a 1/4 is female. But then also, if you're gonna have an out of place, not nostalgic act like Car Seat Headrest or LilHuddy, why not just book Soccer Mommy or Meg & Dia instead?

I went to a KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas show a few years ago and they used the rotating stage. Jimmy Eat World starting to play Pain before the stage was even fully rotated was the coolest stage entrance I've seen haha

    Maybe so, maybe not.

Rotating stages at LOCKN' 2016 (jam festival) worked really well. I doubt emo bands have the chops to really do it but bands would literally segue songs into one another as the stage turned.

  18. And putting We The Kings on there twice. (And all the other typos haha)

I don't even know what to say about this. Clearly one of the best/most stacked line-ups I've ever seen. The fact that Manchester Orchestra is arguably the best band on here, yet not even talked about at all on this line-up is insane.

That said, couldn't dream of spending $250+airline+hotel for a one-day show to see a bunch of my favorite bands play like 25-40 minutes tops while also having major anxiety of said bands being stacked up against each other at the same time. Also...TWELVE hours is a long, ass time to be at a show.

As many have said, had this been a 2-3 day festival, I'd be much, much more inclined to dig in.

Also the weather no one has talked about that. Might not be as hot as the summer but you’ll still have an entire day of above 80 or close to it and you’ll also have to deal with the humidity. Hope where this being held has plenty of shade

A lot can happen between now and September in terms of the pandemic. It will be a nightmare to have this postponed so good luck to those who are planning a long trip to Vegas.

I wonder how many tickets they are actually going to sell since the grounds it’s being help on can hold up to 80k

    The intrusive whisper fascinates me

My favorite part was when Cage The Elephant was late and Beck was trying to kill time by talking to the crowd, and then out of nowhere the stage started moving and he was like “oh! Well, thanks everyone see you later!”
