Of course, "five years of content" sounds so much gimmick-ier and dumb than announcing there will be DLC.

most games DLC cycles at most last 2-3 years post-launch, and 3 is pushing it. Five sounds like a lot

Destiny 2 is already at 5 years and are still releasing content. Look at GTA.

Its the exception, not the rule of course.

yeah I mean destiny 2 and gta online are games as service type games which is not what I think dying light is going for. mmo or borderline mmo style games obviously run for years and years and years

True but maybe that’s what they are hinting at as far as post game/campaign content. It is a very odd play on their end with the type of advertising they have been doing.

Plus the 500 hours of gameplay thing the other day, it's a strange marketing avenue they are going down, thinking people want to play the same game forever. Most don't lol and most won't.

We have all been conditioned by the CoD/AC/Far Cry Model

I was gonna say, I was a one game gamer for a looong time with wow, but I feel like those days have largely passed, with some obvious exceptions for certain games having better play retention than others, such as destiny, but even hardcore wow players these days have to dip their toes in other mmos because blizz has fucked that game into oblivion. most gamers play a lot of stuff and most of us wanna experience as much as we can, and while I’m not a completionist or platinum chaser it doesn’t happen to me as much, I don’t like being caught up in one game for too terribly long because there’s so much other shit I wanna get to. not that there aren’t a very few handful of games I come back to repeatedly but I’m mostly chasing new experiences

I also think it has to do with then vs now. Something like GamePass never existed when WoW first started. Also, the gaming industry is taking off at an insane rate. It’s impossible to keep up.

Yeah I legit haven't played FF XIV in about a year because I know I won't play anything else if I do, 2022 is going to be a ridiculous year for releases with so much I don't wanna miss, so sorry FF XIV and sorry to any game dishing out 500+hours of gameplay

I really want to get into FF XIV but I would have to sink so many hours into it to get caught up and I’m sure I would love it but after 14 years of wow I’ve enjoyed my last year of not playing it at all and moving from game to game every few weeks to a month

It’s been nice to take a step back from smite finally and start to enjoy other things

I feel like everyone should know I’ve probably put in around over 3000 hours into that game since 2012 so I for sure need a break

Yeah, I feel like announcing post launch support for many years isn't uncommon. Five seems like a lot but doesn't surprise me given the support they did for the first game.

So tell me something awesome Supporter

I totally get it, it’s my favorite game and might always be, but the login queue issues lately have given me tons of time to play other stuff alongside it and I’ve enjoyed that silver lining a lot so I get not wanting to be completely hooked rn

I'm super intrigued and also not because after watching all of Retro Replay, seeing Troy's comments after TLOU2 criticism and some of his interviews, I don't know if I want to deal with just watching Troy trying to cover his own ass for an hour.

Props to Alanah and Mike for calling him out on it and stuff
