Most likely it was the now fairly common deaging treatment. I think the only time it felt off to me was when it was in the rear view mirror.

    "I'll chew on a dog!"

If you’re a fan of the Scream series, you owe it to yourself to see this. You will love it.

    Some things I really enjoyed:

    - having a character survive an opening attack and THEN go on to become a final girl. Total subversion.

    - the meta on meta on meta of watching Stab on the couch in Stu’s house

    - throat stab, Dewy’s death, Jack Quaid’s death-so brutal!

    - “you must be the killer. That cut deep.”

    - cheersing “For Wes!” at the party and of course the dedication at the end.

    - phone rings and Jack Quaid jumps - “That’s for you.” made my audience absolutely squeal with delight.

    - audience lost it and cheered when the girl caught on fire and “passed the torch”

    - FOUR final girls. All of them had injuries to their left sides. Is that an intentional Christ reference?

I already want to see this again.

Damn this was good. The writing was really great. I had one of the worst, if not the worst, experiences in a theatre in my whole life and I really loved the movie anyway. So I guess that shows how much I loved it.

I had some jackass come in as the movie started and sit directly in front of me and he just kept talking. Thank god the theater had very few people so I moved after enduring it for 10 minutes.

does it explain how dewey went from barely being able to tie his own shoes in scream 1 to this grizzled veteran dude here

    my experience was as follows:

during the last preview a group (family?) came in that consisted of about 19 people, 5 of which were children aged 5 or younger. They spread into 3 row. Some behind ours. Some in the row in front and some down at the front of the theatre. The ones up front recorded the movie the whole time on 3 open phones. The lady in front of me texted the lady behind me throughout the entire film. Her phone was set to strobe light and flash a red light every text. Then she would pick it up and look at it with full brightness, use talk to text to text back to the last behind us. The kids talked and ran around the entire time. The “parents” allowed the kids to watch countless brutal murders but told the children to close their eyes when two girls were kissing.

Saw it at a showcase in the lux level. Maybe 12 people total up there and ZERO in the rest of the theater. Kind of wild.

solid movie! Can’t wait to see it again, even if I thought the “reveal” was lacking a bit. Some gripes but overall, a solid entry. Love this series

It was an alright sequel. 1, 4, 2 = 5, 3. I dislike most of the new cast, didn’t love the reveal/motives, actually hated the whole vision thing. Did enjoy the soundtrack, the general vibe/back to woodsboro feel, most everything with the returning group, and most of the meta/subversions. LOVED the badass kills and gore (bummed at that one groovy kill that was a misdirect)

only thing I will nitpick is the unnecessary CGI for her visions. Didn’t need to be a thing

I just don’t think it even needed to be a thing AT ALL. Though I’ll admit I may have not been as bothered in general if I wasn’t so meh on Barrera.

Absolutely fucking loved this. So much fun, everything I wanted it to be. Scattered thoughts

    - the kid with the bleached tips had the perfect look for this, that gave me more nostalgia than anything else in this whole movie lol. he’s competing with Dewey big here, but his death was one of my favorites in the whole series. a bunch of fake outs followed by that slow plunge into his neck was absolutely brutal

    - all the twitching and creepy moaning sounds from Gooding and Quaid as they died felt particularly real. I think even the cop at the hospital was moving around a bit

    - the reveal of the house was perfect

    - sidney immediately shooting the door under the closet lmao

    - gale advising viewers to never let her get bangs again in the background on dewey’s tv

    - hospital must’ve been the same hospital from 4 because apparently no one works there, even in the middle of the day

    - ghostface with a blowtorch in STA8 lmfao

    - saw the boyfriend coming from a mile away once he didn’t help Dewey at the hospital, the second killer being the Better Things girl blindsided me

    - CGI Billy wasn’t great. Probably didn’t need to be in there lol, just straight up in his wardrobe and everything

But mostly just shout out to all the zoomers that are gonna see this without having seen any of the others and be confused as all fuck for half the movie. it really banks on the viewer having a fair amount of prior knowledge

TSA Bae from Insecure just randomly being in this as a Woodsboro cop was hilarious
I’m spoiler tagging this because I don’t want to give away the opening, but Ortega was so great in this. She’s going to be a star. Looks like she’ll play a big part in Ti West’s new movie too.
