I was going by this definition:

Streak Runners International, Inc. and the United States Running Streak Association, Inc. home page
The official definition of a running streak, as adopted by the Streak Runners International, Inc., and United States Running Streak Association, Inc., is to run at least one mile (1.61 kilometers) within each calendar day. Running may occur on either the roads, a track, over hill and dale, or on a treadmill.

Finally got to do my first run of the year now that I’m back to almost full health. It felt like 5 degrees outside but man, I could have stayed out there for days. And I would take running in that over heat any day. Yes, I enjoy summer so much more than winter overall, but once you have the right gear for winter you’re all set whereas in summer I’ve got nothing but my shorts, shoes and sunglasses on and it doesn’t matter at all. That’s the worst.

Did 4+ miles yesterday in 21 degree weather, by far the coldest I’ve ever ran in. However I nearly called it quits early on as my fingers were absolutely aching from the cold until 2 miles in, even through thick gloves.

does any know of any good, thermal gloves for running?

I tried a carbon plate shoe for the first time last year (Saucony Endorphin Pro) and I’m not 100% convinced. My best 5K time last year was not while wearing them. But I have heard that the Vaporflys are the best overall. Have you tried any others?

I actually just recently found out about the official rules of the streak. I had thought that the known minimum was 1 mile and my former coach had a 10 year streak he would talk about. Makes it easier to do knowing that if I do reduce my minimum. Would make for a lot less stress in some situations.

Today is day 11 for me, 7 days I did just 1 mile and I've done 27 miles total. I've been using it as part of my warmup before strength training most days.

For me I find that wind blocking is more important than insulation, but my hands don't usually get too cold when running.

I have some 180's brand ones that are 10+ years old that I still use and have held up really well for me. I would say look for something that's windproof/wind resistant with the extra mitten sleeve for really cold days. Also make sure they're not too tight as the extra air will keep your hands warmer and also give you room for a liner if you need something extra.

I have a couple pairs of Hokas with carbon plates (Carbon X and Bondi X) and am consistently 20-30 seconds per mile faster in those than in my Mizunos. Plus neither of those cause issues with the post-traumatic arthritis in my ankle like other shoes do.

i had to give up on my hokas, just absolutely tearing apart the inside of my feet. idk if it’s where they put their seams or just the materials but it messes them up in a way that others don’t. ran six miles in them this weekend and they actually cut my foot and i drew the line there lol

Yeah Hoka’s were a no go for me as well. I tried road and trail versions and while they felt super comfy they just did not work well with my feet. I barely wore them and it still took a long time for my feet to feel normal again after them.

man I love my hokas lol, also snagged a couple pairs of balega socks from REI. Comfort level of them is insane, I’m not a long distance runner (I do between 2.25 to 2.50 a day before strength training) but it makes my morning runs gravyyyy

Yeah Balegas are great. I can’t wear them in summer though, way too thick, but they’re great for winter / cold mornings. Not sure if they make thin socks but if they do I gotta find them but all I ever find are the thicker ones.

My feet sweat so much that I have to do balegas year round or else I begin to slide in my shoes after a few miles in the summer.

Coming back into training for a half at the end of March after a month and a half off to recover from my marathon has been brutal. To top it off, I’m pretty sure I reinjured my leg this week. Ugh. I can’t afford more PT.

They do make thinner ones, I have a couple pairs. Definitely the best running socks I've ever found.

I pretty much only wear balegas. Crazy how long they last.

yeah, unfortunately it looks like the NRC app doesn’t track progress on the half marathon training for runs done with the watch, but it shouldn’t be that difficult to just figure it out anyways
