What are they doing these days anyway? The original UK tournament made them look like a million bucks, and some amazing matches involving them afterwards. But it's amazing this many years later they haven't leveraged their incredible talent.

On one of the latest wrestling with freddie podcasts he mentioned he knows a guy that years ago before WWE signed with fox, this exec there interviewed to be COO of wwe and they wanted fox to buy all of the company but it was too expensive so they licensed smack down instead. Absolutely wild that vince is going to sell it off instead of keep it in the family.

The question is whether Vince was doing it unilaterally, or if the kids were happy with the idea. I'd believe HHH wants a lifetime of working in wrestling, but I wouldn't necessarily assume the same of Steph and Shane (the latter of which already has explored other industries).

My point exactly. All I know is Dunne has been losing to some guy with a stereotypical Italian gimmick. But I remember thinking back to Takeover Chicago and thinking these guys would have been well established at the top by now

Good for Corey, but he’s way better on commentary than he was as a performer.

Agreed. Dude was very average in ring, but good for him. It'll be interesting to see how he uses the persona he's developed as a commentator to an in-ring personality

Gotta imagine if he does make an in-ring return, they'd do something with him and Carmella together?

Also, I can't help but wonder what type of story there is out there in regards to all these performers not being cleared to wrestle and forced to retire, only for some time to pass and suddenly be a-okay for an in-ring return? Bryan, Edge, Nikki, Graves, possibly Paige. Either WWE is shutting people down prematurely, or they're changing their standards for what gets you cleared in the first place? It all feels very strange and weird to me

Totally valid question, and I guess for their health's sake, I would hope it was because the health and state of their brains or necks continues to heal and improve with additional time or new treatments. But I'd certainly appreciate peering further behind the curtain to understand what's resulting in these returns.

So I highly suggest checking out this episode of Unrestricted. Alex's life has been insane! Dude trained in the Hart Dungeon, did writing for WWE, and he is such an amazing storyteller. A great watch.

This is how it will go:

    1. Corey Graves is cleared to wrestle
    2. A feud resulting from the rumble match going into mania
    3. He is renamed to just Corey
    4. Released

I know its intended to mock the Murdocks, but there is a stunning amount of Succession (especially S1) that parallels the McMahons. Shiv = Steph and her faux liberalism branding, Shane being outside the family business like Roman, HHH's Kendall trying to make a name for himself and constantly getting shit on.

Funnest parallel though is that Linda is basically Connor. And that would make Kevin Dunn = Greg?

Iirc in Bryan and Edge's case they did cryotherapy and maybe stem cells like a lot of older wrestlers?

It's always a little sketchy to me in cases like Bryan where they always imply their efforts to get cleared are about "looking for a doctor to clear me". That just sounds like you're looking for a sketchier doctor to tell you what you want to hear.

For Danielson it was this Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber/ machine that he gave a ton of credit to his return. Can't remember completely but it's like a machine that gives you 100 percent oxygen while in a chamber and it miraculously healed his brain, I remember Danielson's doctors saying his brain was in the best health it had ever been in as a result.

I think its also wildly different standards; with CTE and concussions being a big deal about when they dropped a lot of those people, WWE's standard for clearance was probably impossibly high. But with treatment and WWE re-thinking how they structure that risk, its easier to see them get cleared.

Im more amazed at Edge's return from his neck than anything.
