He does a good job playing it off as though he’s creating a collaborative team culture though. Maybe it’s because he’s been so successful that no one DOES question him haha

IMO, I’d rather just roll with him another year than spend more to get a different veteran QB who also won’t be a long-term franchise guy (Garoppolo, Bridgewater, Goff, a second round QB pick, etc), would be all in on getting one of those franchise QBs (Wilson, Rodgers, etc), and am not fully opposed but lean against swapping Wentz + assets for a potentially available QB on a rookie deal with upside (Baker, Tua, Jones, etc) or a high floor, limited ceiling expensive veteran who is better than Wentz (Cousins, Carr)

 

Yeah imagine being a part of that culture, seeing the glory BB gets, and then being one of the top HC candidates of the offseason. You are definitely going to become an egotistical asshole haha

well yeah, I’m talking about the QB who gets passed on the depth chart in dramatic fashion by a future HOF 6th round QB. The latter position is already nailed down and is not a position of need

they always doing the least flashy and most disappointing thing with their free agent signings

 

I think a lot of it is people try to be him and they can’t because he’s only who he is because he fell into a super bowl early into his career.

I was thinking about this last night with the whole "Staley calls a TO and suddenly the Raiders go for it" thing. All these coaches are egotistical maniacs because its impossible to be in the game otherwise. There's certainly levels to it (Tomlin is different than say, a Schiano), but the baseline is something no reasonable company would otherwise accept.

Belichick's genius is that he uses his power plays to fuck with the one thing fans will always agree with him on...hating beat reporters. He gives them non answers to reasonable questions, revels in revealing nothing, and everyone calls him a genius. Gives them little room to criticize him for his flaws. And the only time we've really seen that crack was during the replacement referee stuff where they were so inept they cost him a game and he snapped.

Saban kind of does that to in the college game. Let the assistants get all the focus of media attention, basically only talk about recruiting and how you wish you were recruiting and seem bland. And dont let the players reveal your personality so the media dont start suddenly asking about your love of "Deez Nuts" jokes
