No he didn't. I'm not sure what else there was that would be considered "easy". This was Gall's second fight in the UFC. They just plucked him off some random amateur circuit like six months ago.

if they didn't see any money in punk, they're probably wrong but i get it. i can't see how this is a big win for mickey. he destroyed a guy that had never fought before in a 30 second walk

quitting MMA after one match, even a beatdown like that, doesn't strike me as punks style. feel like he would want to try at least once more before giving up

Bummed he lost, but not entirely surprised. I hope he continues to do whatever he wants to do. I think it's dumb to be critical of the moves he makes, whether he stays with MMA or goes back to wrestling; dude's earned the right to do whatever makes him happy.

  10. Respect for sure to Punk for following a dream and living it but it's so abundantly clear that dude shouldn't step back into the octagon - he may want to come back but UFC may not have plans for him now that they made their money off him

Given the short nature of this card (and presumably all future cards), and in an attempt to adapt to the two-belt system, this month I'm going to try something new. I will add up your points from this ppv AND Clash of Champions (the Raw ppv) and crown a new champ the day after, 9/26.

This also serves to replace the stupid tiebreaker thing I had to do every month. Also, the champ will receive their 1 point bonus on each card, and still retain tiebreaker benefits. Hoping this will work out better, but who knows; trying it out for now.

Good for Punk for even trying. To only have trained for two years, it wasn't going to be easy, especially against Gall. I definitely think he'll keep fighting for sure, I don't see him back in WWE at all.

That's ridiculous. Dude trained for two years, though he spent months of that training time injured, to step into the highest level of competition in that sport. It's like if Tim Tebow trains for a full season in minor league ball and then they throw him in the majors against, like, a No. 4 starter and when he strikes out everyone should just shame him and ban him from baseball ever again. The dude was overmatched and was rushed into the spotlight because of name and money. To suggest that he "should never step back into the octagon" is short sighted and dumb, IMO.

Punk should honestly never step in the octagon again. If he wants to do other MMA stuff in the indie, then fine. But at this point Punk is well past his prime and nowhere near close to the level of UFC fighters, so no matter if he train for another year straight, he's going to lose any fight in the octagon

Punk did what he wanted and he always will, pretty much. I don't think he wants to give up after one fight but who knows. Anyone have an estimate of how much he made off of the fight, the promotion and tv show etc.?

I enjoy this notion that one complete failure means someone should just give up immediately.

  23. He shouldn't give up but he definitely shouldn't be in UFC right now. Like someone else said, he can still do MMA but it's not fair for him to take up a spot on the UFC roster when he hasn't done anything to earn it.

That's up to Dana white though, if he decides it's worth the $$$ that's all that matters

  25. I doubt he's gonna be a big money grab much longer. MAYBE one more fight. But if he gets smashed again people will stop caring.
