i love how fully you commit to discussing pineapple pizza

hostel is dumb, fun enough if you like gorn but it only can do so much for me. 2 is actually a little more interesting and intense iirc for the gender flip and a little bit more thought

I like Jay Hernandez so Hostel has that going for it, but ultimately all I remember is the part with the eyeball

    Definitely didn't hate it haha

I think it was certainly an interesting take on horror since it really delved far into a counter culture, in a way a lot of horror movies are afraid to. Generally horror movies protagonist at least start out as young and live clean lives.. so showing a different lifestyle that already start out making some horrific choices (don't get people who are in to whippits) and coupling that with a drug induced pregnancy really gave it a lot more layers and content.

I didn't think the main character was unlikable at all, she was just clearly a mess. I found some of the psychedelic vision parts really neat, was hoping there would be more of that but it was a decent amount. It dragged a little bit for me but the ending was crazy.

The soundtrack was also dope, want a list of songs in that movie.

  4. Haha, well it's not quite a Halloween wedding...more of a Fall theme, but the wedding is on October 28th of next year. She said I could pick one decoration, so I'm slowly stretching that rule and actively looking for loopholes.

Oof...the eyeball part. I remember not feeling so well in theaters when that happened.

Also...I haven't eaten cheez wiz ever since.

I got to watch The Shallows last night, I had been pretty excited for it.

The CGI of the shark was absolutely atrocious - like worse than those SyFy shark movies. Although its death scene was pretty magnificent. Also, I was going to rage quit if the seagull didn't make it. But meh, I certainly won't be watching it again I don't think.

  7. Exactly how bad was The Gallows

Almost in the so bad it's fun category, faintly remember watching it with my girlfriend and the "fuck it, if this is how it is we are getting drunk" instinct kicked in

also, yes, the shark in The Shallows looks pretty stupid but I can say I was not expecting the finale and thoroughly enjoyed watching it from the 15 min mark onward

That being said, I hope future filmmakers realize projecting text conversations like some fucking drive in theater on half the screen is not a good idea

So what's the general consensus on Holidays in here, I finally watched it before work earlier and I'm not sure how I feel. I liked some of it and some of it was just unfathomably stupid.

I thought Holidays was pretty bad. It had some good moments but overall it's definitely not something I would want to rewatch

Hell yeah. Hank walking down the street in his childhood devil costume declaring "Trick or treat" is one of the greatest moments in history.

There were two children, no older than 3, in my screening of Don't Breathe last night. Now all I can think of today is WHY.

    Good movie tho.

Southbound was a big let down. I really enjoyed V/H/S but Southbound was just really lacklustre. I have no idea how that movie got 80% on Rotten Tomatoes, lol. It's more like a 40% kind of movie.
