im very heavily leaning toward it since i know ill get HZD eventually (the other game im thinking of buying rn) but ive already given it a shot and didnt get too far, i feel like ill find valhalla enjoyable the same way i did origins.

Valhalla is a lot worse than Origins, or even Odyssey for that matter. I loved Origins.

i loved origins but every review of valhalla ive seen makes me think i am absolutely going to like it way more than odyssey. the setting alone makes me way more excited than i ever was to try odyssey

the first few hours are great so why not give it a try. though I suggest your best bet is just get the ubi+ sub for a month instead of plopping down 30 for it.

There is just absolutely nothing going on in Valhalla regarding story, narrative, any of that stuff. Despite that, I had a blast putting like 80 hours into it just running around and beating up anglo saxons with my hammer.

theres nothing going on storywise in skyrim either and ive sunk more time into that game than any other game on the planet not called world of warcraft so, nbd the only AC story i ever actually enjoyed was brotherhood anyway

love logging onto this hellsite only to find out AC has a story

assassins good templars bad. the appeal of AC has always been the historical backdrop. Unity was dope, not because of the story but because it was taking place against the backdrop of revolutionary france in the 1790's, thats the shit the series needs to lean into more and the setting of valhalla is awesome. my problem with odyssey was that it went even further back in time than origins and i was already a little ehh on origins being BC and i played them back to back and got burnt out quick in odyssey. im a little bit more interested in more recent history i guess although i do enjoy all history

I tried playing the first AssCreed on PS3 and got maybe an hour in and was bored and have never gone back. I think that's about the same amount of time I got into Uncharted as well

Valhalla is exactly what I thought it’d be so far. I dig it.

because unlike Tsushima it sold most of those at a very low price point, since it was pretty much constantly heavily discounted mere weeks after it came out. also critics universally panned the game and players didn't finish it.

Can't wait for this moron to go on Jaffe's podcast to cry about it.

Days Gone rules. A world that would have been improved with a second entry.

Critics response was in a different world than the fans response to the game.

I always heard it was decent but flawed. From both fans and the critics I follow on YouTube which I guess is different than mainstream outlets you find on metacritic

On Steam the game currently has a rating of Very Positive with 93% of 19,226 user reviews.

I haven't played the game myself, but I watched Achievement Hunter play a bit when the game came out and I thought it looked pretty alright, and it's on my wishlist to buy on Steam once it has a decent sale there.

I bring this up only because you seem to have beef about this game, and that intrigues me.

truly a masterclass in paint by numbers open world/third person character driven action games. wooden and unlikable characters. my only hope is they're intentionally bad as a way of making some vague critique of american masculinity and "biker culture" but I couldn't be bothered to stick around

in his cyberpunk review, tim rogers actually mentions liking the game a lot, and I feel like he has to be doing a bit/being sarcastic

I can be! I tend to fade in and out. One year I'll be really into them and another I won't touch them. I tend to binge them and then stop haha
