Just pisses me off more that the show I have tickets for in Brooklyn on NYE won't cancel and refuses to offer refunds. How the fuck is it responsible to throw an event in Brooklyn where 7,000 people will be dancing together all night in an indoor venue?!

Anyone have experience with disputing charges for a concert tickets to try and get a refund? If the ticket didn't cost $180 each then I'd just chalk it up as a loss.

I will never stop being fascinated by Twitter users blatantly making up things their kids said. It’s such a weird, specific pathology. This person did it twice in two days! Wtf!

I got tested at this drive through place last week and there were about 10 cars in front of me. Now there are about 100.

The CDC/federal response to COVID is not having a great December, to say the least

I’m semi in the same boat. I just got back from visiting my parents in Chicago (couldn’t cancel because they spent a ton of money on flying me there). They wanted to go to restaurants yesterday and today because they thought they wouldn’t be crowded. I didn’t think it was a good idea and told them to get takeout. I could tell they were annoyed by that, but it’s like “We’re together and trying to be safe about it. Isn’t that enough?” Since the start of this, None of it has had it with any serious symptoms, so I don’t get why they would want to find out how bad it could get right now.

One thing to say about this is the CDC data they are using is from December 2020. Given that delta is known to have a shorter incubation period than the original strain and omicron believing to have a shorter infectious period, doesn't seem like data to still be using a relevant today.

This is some disgusting shit right here. This guy needs to be treated like Richard Spencer out in public, just needs to be punched in the face at all times.

This has bothered me since then, honestly. I understand why they did what they did, but that doesn't make it right, and I don't think it was the right call. I think you tell people the accurate science and then say "we don't even have enough masks for healthcare workers, so don't buy them". It's not a good position to be in, and our country should never have been in the position to begin with. There were no good options. But I'm also a huge fucking hypocrite if I say Trump has a lot of blood on his hands from those 820,419 deaths and counting and don't acknowledge that they have a lot of blood on their hands too regarding lying about masks to people because we just didn't have enough.

    * Edited to add that even in the absolute best, most generous reading of this latest CDC guidance regarding shortening to 5 days - giving them the absolute most benefit of the doubt - they are being purposely obtuse and knowing that massive amounts of people can't follow the guidance properly anyway and many will be confused on the finer points of it and only follow the very broad '5 Day, Not 10 Day' summary. I actually think it's much worse than that personally.

same cdc that said you were good to not wear a mask back in the summer so i don't know why anyone still takes what they say seriously

It’s been kind of funny to see all the engagement with the CDC’s updated guidelines on Twitter, as if it really mattered. I’d wager 90% of the country either 1) couldn’t tell you the guidelines if you had a gun to their head or 2) know the guidelines but couldn’t care less. It will have no discernible impact on most people’s behavior.
