The vaccines weren't widely available in the US until late May, and that alone feels like decades ago

Woke up with shortness of breath, congestion and now a headache. The urgent care right down the road I can walk to charges 150 dollars for a fucking test insurance or not. Missed the pop up I was gonna go to because I didn’t sleep at all and slept in when I finally did fall asleep at 8 am. No idea where to go get a test from, hearing here and there certain small pharmacies have some at certain times but no one knows about it and I shouldn’t even be leaving my apartment and will have to take public transit anywhere I go and I clearly have it so I’m exposing a ton of people that way. Ugh.

Man, my parents drive me crazy with COVID protocols. I guess you could say they take COVID semi-seriously(?) because they did get vaccinated and did get boosted, but when it comes to quarantine/close contacts/exposure they really piss me off.

My sister just tested positive on Sunday, and we were all together on Friday and Saturday and we typically host NYE every year and I texted my parents and sisters this morning saying 'I think this goes without saying, but we are not going to host NYE on Friday' and my parents are acting like this is some baffling decision. Especially now with the new CDC announcement they think my sister will be fine by Thursday (day 5) and that we should still all be getting together and partying. They've done this a lot over the course of the pandemic, where they will be exposed to someone with COVID, but still want to do something with us or our kids the next day or so. They just don't get (or refuse to accept) the idea of quarantining - or at the very least - laying low after exposure and then try to make everyone else feel like we're in the wrong or being unnecessarily cautious.

    Annoyed.

they lowered the isolation guidelines because the ceo of Delta wanted them to. there's no positive way to spin it, i'm sorry. they want you to die for capital.

My fiance and I had COVID in October, she had the monoclonal antibody infusion and I had my booster about 3.5 weeks ago. We had dinner and saw a movie with her mom on Christmas, and her mom just told us she'd had a fever the past 3 nights.

I've been sneezing like crazy and dealing with a runny nose all day and my throat's a little sore. I'm probably just overthinking it, buuuuuut

Also, following the change from the CDC lowering the guidance to 5 days IF YOU TEST NEGATIVE, what kind of test are they saying you should do? Rapid or PCR? Cause a PCR is obviously going to take a minimum of 24 hours to come back, are they saying you can leave quarantine while you're waiting on those results? Just a massive clusterfuck on the messaging

There was no 'If You Test Negative'

It's just...5 days - If you have no symptoms.

    Which is just as dumb.

I was convinced that I was getting COVID yesterday (felt a little off, and started getting what I thought was a sore throat), which freaked me out because I've been like obsessively careful over the last two weeks, not being around anyone without a KN95. Feeling normal today, but tried looking for tests around me to make sure and there's also nothing within walking distance. All the pharmacies by me are sold out. I know NYC has free testing sites around, but everything is at least a bus ride away and so would have to potentially expose people.

I'm pretty sure I'm fine and I'll probably just try to stay away from people if possible the next few days to make sure. But there are probably tons of people like me right now who aren't sure if they are sick, can't get a test, and will just assume they don't have it and at least a few of them will actually be sick/contagious. Just truly pathetic incompetence all around

Wife tested positive for COVID yesterday. She tested negative on Sunday afternoon when she first started to feel off, but around 4am Monday she developed a fever and chills. Her fever broke last night and she’s doing a bit better today. I don’t have symptoms just yet but I’m sure I’ll get them any day now. I’m thinking I will quarantine while waiting until I develop symptoms to take a test first, since she didn’t test positive until she had symptoms.
