p sure I have gone to bat for St Anger before in some capacity so I won’t bother now but what I will say is I listened to Lulu a couple weeks back for the first time ever with a good friend and we both had a fucking great time. I get why ppl hate it but I unironically fucked with it lol. fascinating stuff.

 

Honestly, I think I'm more likely to put on St Anger and Lulu than I am Death Magnetic.

 

Def listen to St Anger much much much more often than Death Magnetic


Seems like the tide is turning, but St Anger is pretty high up on the overlooked/misunderstood great albums list. The lyrics are great, the drum sounds are great, the songs are great, the first 4 albums it is not

I’ve always said it’s better to be memorably bad than it is to be unmemorable, so perhaps there’s some value in that

 

it’s certainly not the worst snare sound i’ve ever heard

 

I love a good cranked up snare (like lots of 90’s/early 00’s metalcore), but much like the rest of the album, it was poor execution on a promising concept

 

I’m actually planning on re visiting the black album for the first time in years soon. I’m very excited

 

I don’t ever need to hear “Enter Sandman” again but that track riffs fucking hard

 

I’m excited to revisit Holier Than Thou, Wherever I May Roam, and Of Wolf and Man.

 

I agree with whoever said on the old B9 board, it should be a midnight movie that people pay to go watch and mock it

 

On the next Deftones album, they should force Stephen to play only six strings.

I'd take that stuff over the St Anger snare.

Although having said that, Sanguisugabogg used the St Anger snare sound and it sounds a much better fit in that context.
