My cousin who I saw Friday has now tested positive. I learned the news while waking up to being congested and a sore throat. Fun!

Gotta love misleading headlines

 

I mean they clearly mean wearing a mask even in private for five days.

 

I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone even the trump people on my Facebook even share his stuff so I’ve never heard of him really

 

People are gonna see some of these headlines and not realize the shortened isolation is only if you have no symptoms and wear a mask around others for 5 more days because some are not doing a great job explaining that

 

Here’s the issue though, unless you are a professional athlete or a healthcare worker, you’d likely never even know you had COVID if you are asymptomatic. Otherwise, the majority of the population isn’t testing themselves randomly when they feel fine.

So do they mean asymptomatic from the start or symptoms are gone by day 5? I’m sure they mean the former, but most people will read it as the latter.

 

I was just watching local news and they did not say the “no symptoms” part.

 

Here’s a question re:aliens: I always see science fiction writers and stuff being like “we never want to meet aliens they will destroy us and dominate us” but like, if they’re evolved to the point that they’ve mastered interspace travel and their society has survived to that point, wouldn’t they have to be extremely empathetic? Like, look at how we’re doing, and a lack of caring for other people seems to be the main reason for it. I just don’t understand how any society could survive that long without destroying itself unless it was extremely empathetic.

 

Based on the CDC statement I think it means if asymptomatic by day 5 you can end isolation, but not completely sure

 

Seems to be split opinions from some medical experts I follow on twitter.
