Different planets and outer space are two different things.

  2. So more like Gravity and Interstellar?

  3. Another hour of interstellar would be cruel and unusual punishment

Yes. Something about the difficulty of trying to simulate zero gravity, all the weird rules of a vaccuum without an atmosphere. I obviously haven't seen the Dune or Avatar sequels but when you think about something like Star Wars it is just a repurposed jungle or desert or snowy area.

Venom 2 is the first comic book movie I've watched that was under 2 hours in length in a longgg time and it was a breath of fresh air

One of the most critically acclaimed trilogies of all time is collectively over 10 hours. Feels nice.

and the last one is notable for being like an hour and a half too long with five unnecessary endings lol

There are certainly exceptions but I would generally agree most comedies/action movies are most optimal at a tight 90 mins

What would that do? The target audience would get what they need out of 90 minutes. Maybe less.

Absolutely not. Not for Infinity War and Endgame, which are the “Thanos films”. The story required more than 90 minutes for each film.

no comic book movie should be longer than forty-five minutes, with the optimal length being about half an hour

To drop Infinity War to 90 minutes you’d have to remove roughly 45 minutes of footage. IW already starts off swinging with little to no exposition of Thanos and where the film starts. Start to finish Infinity War is a high adrenaline, though, well-paced movie that carefully balances the 20+ characters due to each character being able to breath because it miraculously doesn’t rush them. There really isn’t any content they could have cut without the film seeming like it skipped a story beat because each scene contains information for one that follow. It’s an ambitious film that was really filled from from start to finish. Maybe they could have cut down some of the quips, but that would be a few minutes at most.

For Endgame they’d have to remove 70 minutes of footage. Though it’s not such adrenaline power house compared to IW, it had to close threads for dozens of arcs that came before it. I don’t think it needs much explaining as to why 90 minutes would have been impossible.

Having a high school cafeteria worth of superheroes to feature is a problem they created, not something foisted upon them. More superheroes means more merchandise, so you have to show them off. You can make one 90 minute movie about a bad guy trying to get the magic rocks but then losing when he almost gets them all. No one in the audience really thought a Disney superhero movie was going to leave half the world dead, and the only real consequences were the big movie stars who wanted to leave the franchise anyway.

Endgame could have trimmed a few minutes off the big battle at the end to come in under the three hour mark, but then people would have complained that it was anti-climactic.

it really does not. there is plenty to cut from that movie. it only requires that you see the ending

Oh no, the actual clip is in the replies, and... yeah, it's real bad. And, isn't this the dork who also said media should face serious repercussions for spoilers (and then himself tweeted a leaked picture of the three Spider-Men together)? Yikes.
