is "cockroach" a nice slur?

 

Yeah so I don't know the specifics, but if you are referring to people of color as "cockroaches," there is no way you are not a racist. That's not really up for debate

 

Regardless of whether it is a slur or not, I don't see a scenario where a white person calling black people "cockroaches" is meant in any sort of "nice" way.

 

Just not sure if I’d conclude it was meant with racist intent. I can’t speak for Tilian, but I feel like anyone could be called a cockroach.

There is no screenshot or evidence of any of this. My point is I don’t think there’s enough info to make any conclusions on it.

 

Here's another post about it. It doesn't look like it gained a ton of traction because this is the first I am hearing of it and it sounds like people bringing it up are being suppressed, but yeah, not great.

 

it happened in the swanposting group it sounds like and I believe it happened if a black person in the group says it did, not like they have anything to gain by lying about something like that considering the harassment they’ll get from the extremely toxic fan base that posts in that Facebook group

 

I’m not saying it happened but I’m also inclined to believe it’s true based on tilian flirting with libertarian ideas in the past and being a fan of people like Jordan Peterson and shit which is one step away (or less) from the kind of overt racism it takes to call black people cockroaches

 

Someone posted the actual cockroach comments on Reddit. Tilian here explicitly states it’s not about race. I’ll personally conclude it was just a “not nice” thing to say.

Void of more context, it looks like he already had to apologize for something, and then go in the comments of a post calling him out for saying xenophobic shit about Muslims and get aggressive with more POC because he can't fathom that referring to minorities as "cockroaches" would be construed as racist?

I think cockroach not being intended as a slur and him still being a racist piece of shit is very possible. But, like, why bother trying to fight over semantics? If it wasn't intended as a slur it still doesn't absolve him of his behavior. Fuck that guy.

 

just an overall baffling choice to go to bat for the guy out here openly calling POC cockroaches, racial intent or not. baffling.
