I love Parachutes a lot, a lot, a lot. Every other Coldplay album I either dislike or am indifferent to.

 

Wanna like this for the Caroline love but not the Phoebe slander lol.

I don't think I love Punisher quite as much as a lot of people seem to but I think Kyoto, I Know the End and especially Chinese Satellite are pretty perfect songs.

Also Coldplay are a very hit or miss band for me but when they hit man do they hit.

 

as a phoebe fan, there's nothing wrong with simply not liking or not immediately connecting with her music.

 

Coldplay has a pretty decent shoegaze song on Viva La Vida.

 

Coldplay has to be the most played music act on Dutch radio, like ever. It’s so annoying because I hate them so much. I hate them more every year too.

 

I enjoy old Coldplay, but don't listen to new Coldplay that much. They were one of my favorite bands for a while, but just strictly because of the older stuff.

 

My comment is 100% based on the past 10 years or so. I should have clarified. First half of Coldplay career was nice. No issue. It's their latest, more pop stuff that's almost an immediate turn off in the car. Pop needs to be fun, or unique, or catchy, or danceable, or make a point. Coldplay pop is made just for European festivals and flags and glow sticks and says nothing.

 

My favorite Coldplay song is really just a Jon Hopkins track

Agree re: Blink

There are lots of pop punk/rock bands making far more interesting music these days but people still fawn over them because ~nostalgia~

 

Black Album slaps too, that production is incredible

 

Black Album has some cheesy tracks but there are some fat fuckin’ riffs on that record

 

Tbf blink has a lot of underrated meaning in their songs--fuck a dog was a brilliant analogy about climate change inaction/apathy for instance--but overall Angels and airwaves is basically the musical and philospophical pinnacle that the band epically failed to reach due to petty personal differences.

 

black album is a very good rock band album, it’s just disappointing coming from a band that was a great metal band

living up to the title of this thread, st. anger is better

 

St Anger has some riiiiiifs but terrible lyrics, even by Metallica standards.
