Metallica and Slayer are the only two in the Big 4 who have an actual impact on metal, Megadeth stopped being good after Rust in Peace and Anthrax is just one note but fun

i've started to realize how much i absolutely despise Coldplay. Their pop music is mind numbingly generic sounding. They've all sounded very 'samey' and idk. It's safe. Not fun.

Rust in Peace is better than anything any of the other Big 4 have put out. Exodus should have replaced Anthrax. I could see a case for Testament or Overkill too.

 

Rust in Peace is very good but Slayer and Metallica have a combined 5-6 better records

Ima think about this all morning but it’s neither of them.

 

Give their older stuff a shot, most specifically Parachutes and Viva La Vida. Parachutes is more low-key indie/Britpop, and while Viva La Vida is right around when they fully strayed into pop, it was the album where they did it best, lots of experimentation gone right

I agree, they're pretty tough to listen to now just because its so watered down, but tbh Higher Power is a great pop song

 

How dare u, production for first 3 albums are iconic. Ride the Lighting guitar tone is GOAT. And Justice For All is where things went haywire but I still love that album

If anything their last three albums are the egregious ones in terms of mixing

And there are many many many bands I would say are more overrated than Metallica

 

Metallica is nowhere close to the most overrated band lol

 

I really didn't get the hype for Phoebe Bridger's Punisher - it seemed universally loved and not a single song jumped off the record to my ears. I don't mind her as an artist but really didn't enjoy that album

Finally checked out Caroline Polachek lately, now she is an interesting writer
