Yeah ignore was the wrong word. I guess I mean the movies could work together without seeing the things in reloaded and revolutions. You sort of know the trajectory after first and the events don't need to be viewed in detail to enjoy this one. I'll have to do back to back watches sometime and see how I feel.

I don't know that it would be worse, just different. I didn't say it works better, just that it could work.

The original film implies that Neo and Morpheus' team will take down the Matrix by helping people unplug and eventually bring down the whole thing. The truce only makes sense with the sequels.

Holy lol. That cover at the end of the movie kinda sums up my thoughts about the movie as a whole.

You should leave some things alone.

Definitely. Ignore was the wrong word. The history of Morpheus and his unbroken faith in what Neo did discussed in this movie is much more powerful having viewed 2 and 3, that I can say for sure.

Since the energy source for the machines are the humans in the Matrix, what are the friendly machines using?

It's humans and fusion, so I guess just fusion? I was under the impression that human brain activity was also used for computational purposes.

  9. I'll give some more detailed thoughts once I catch up on the last few pages, but this felt like the Prometheus of the Matrix movies and I loved it. The fucking AUDACITY of that first hour. Lana really made exactly what she wanted to and did not give a fuck about fan service lol. Super refreshing.

I really like that her motivation came from the death of parents and her desire to see them alive again. She had a story to tell instead of just wanting to cash in on sequel mania.

Yeah I totally misrepresented his argument. My mistake.

  13. Yeah, so minor complaints would be some weird out of touch dialogue in the beginning, the bizarre disorientation/slow motion shots, and how convoluted it was at points (its up its own ass about as much as you'd expect a Matrix sequel to be).

But everything about this just felt so thoughtful to me, and when they did call back to the first film, it felt more like a love letter than anything else. The performances were great, NPH was great, and I thought the recasting was handled very tastefully. It's a Matrix film with half the action, but twice the heart.

I don't know if I can remember the last time a blockbuster felt this genuine to me. It's not perfect, but it could be the second best film in the series. It's leagues better than anything I could have hoped for in a Matrix sequel 20 years later.

Trilogy rewatch now over, seeing this in a half hour and am hyype. I like revolutions about the same as i remember liking it, not a whole lot but appreciate it way more now, but god i fucking love reloaded.

There’s a funny post credits scene for anyone else who didn’t realize until now.

  17. haha yeah, I didn't stay for it at the theater but I double-checked on Max. It's pretty funny, but very pointless, which is kind of the point, Lana calling out Marvel's silliness

This was fun, enjoyed it enough to give it another watch or two on hbo next week before it leaves, but, idk what their plans are but idk how interested i am in additional sequels.

I didn't get the vibe that this was setting up any sequels honestly.

Lots of cheesy lines/etc I could've done without why the cute robots? Seriously.
I actually like the main idea but so much of it felt poorly executed and written.
    The cinematography isn't great either.

NPH great as usual, well cast. His lines could've been better especially the end? Why would he tell Neo to "control his woman"?
Also, I appreciate the self-awareness of the movie but it was a bit exhausting. We got the idea the moment it was introduced.

He has a specific style, but I would say yes? I've seen HIMYM, Dr. Horrible, a bit of the unfortunate events and some other stuff I can't recall
