yeah, I mean I've never seen Dave but in the end it's a show created by and about a white rapper whose whole shtick just feels like appropriation (IMO), so I feel like that tweet is pretty chill considering what could be said. it does feel a tad petty but he's not wrong.

 

Atlanta and Dave may both have protagonists who are rappers, but they are two completely different shows. Don't understand the need to take shots just because Dave is also getting praise.

Dave Season 2 was absolutely surprisingly amazing, maybe the best season of a half hour comedy I saw all year

 

Both shows also roll the dice on unexpected plot twists or devoting whole episodes to topics/characters that don't advance the season's arc in anyway. But that's one of the reasons they are both great shows IMO.

 

You should check it out, the appropriation is addressed frequently.

 

Maybe, I've heard decent things. It's not super high on my list.

Y'all should watch Ramy and High Maintenance. Both of those feel somewhat adjacent to Atlanta and are amazing.

 

Ramy is great and absolutely is the same vibe as Dave and Atlanta. I don't know High Maintenance but I'll look into it

 

It doesn't help that Lil Dicky's music is fucking awful, makes it a bit harder for Dave fans to convince people

 

Ironically, Dave has some really great music that has never been formally released. So yes, his only released music still sucks haha

 

High Maintenance is a unique structure and it's very experimental in this way, but it's also one of the best shows about representation I've probably ever seen. I hope it's remembered as a cult classic, because the love for it is there and you can tell there was a lot of passion put into that show, especially the last two seasons which are phenomenal. Hope you dig it!

 

Lol yep 100%, his officially released music isn't good but a lot of the music showcased in the show are surprisingly great. I'm actually confused why he hasn't officially released any of that.
In fact with the season 2 story arc being the lead up to his album release, I was anticipating a surprise album would've come in real life after the season finale.

 

yep, I think a lot of people were thinking/hoping for that.... I honestly don't understand why he wouldn't, unless the songs simply aren't full songs... but still, we know a few are full songs, or he could release the full VMAs practice thing as a single track.... I dunno, just give me Ally's Song please please

 

I wonder if we'll get to hear a new Paper Boi song this season or if they'll just keep using the same one lol
