There's a good chance Manchin doesn't run again in 2024. So even though his constituents seem to support BBB, I don't he cares. He's successfully used his position to protect his financial interests and that's all that matter to him.

Not only that he was able to get the two bills separated so that he’s probably going to be able to bring a CCS hub to WV and the Ohio river valley which will be used to support industry and further develop natural gas and related infrastructure in the region. Democrats absolutely suck and just let this guy walk all over them. Then again I think only the progressive wing of the party truly cares.

It's my last class with my AP Gov class before break and for some reason I guess I really wanted to piss myself off because I decided to watch Recount with them. I keep memory holing that he was Gore's running mate in 2000 lol

Does anyone have a good source of numbers on what the overall hospitalization and death rates look like among the vaccinated? I know its a lot lower. But I'm not sure if its "still a good deal worse than the flu" or "similar to the flu" or what.

    > “If you are unvaccinated, I’m worried about you. I’m worried that your risk of being hospitalized, or God forbid, losing your life to this virus, is quite significant,” Murthy said. “It still remains the case that getting vaccinated and boosted is the best way to protect yourself, even against Omicron.”

Saw this from the surgeon general on cnn. This seems like a much better way to communicate the risks and dangers of remaining unvaccinated than that "I hope you have fun dying" shit from yesterday.

My sister isn't seeing any increased absences from students, but they have been low on substitute teachers so she's had to cover another teacher's class. Luckily it was the same subject she already teaches

I wouldn't mind the strong, harsh language in that memo if it went along with doing the tough but necessary things to keep people safe right now, but that is just not the case, and this doesn't seem to be a first step in a new direction either.

I do think more should have been done to differentiate between adults willfully choosing to remain unvaccinated for stupid reasons and people who remain unvaccinated for a whole host of other reasons, not the least of which is just being 4 fucking years old or younger.

Reading that I couldn't help but think of my neighbor who has a 4 year old child with a respiratory condition - they have already spent the last two years in abject terror worrying about this kid and trying to figure out how to keep him safe, and I can't help but think about how that memo would land with them.

If this heralded some major change in Biden's policy and was emblematic of how he was going about adjusting fire for Omicron then I would say it's fine and possibly even good, but I don't think for a second that that's what is going on here.

What's the turnaround for your booster post-infection? We've got to wait 28 days I think.

Its funny how "catching people breaking the law" is construed as targeting political adversaries lol

I don’t know. My friend who is a pharmacist said I’m good to go once I am symptom free.

    They don’t exactly check.

  25. That's the way to do it. Shaming people about dying isn't going to work. Proof of vaccination (if you are eligible / of age) should be the ticket to enter any basic establishment.
