    RE: Halo campaigns

the only campaign I really liked at all was the original. the level design was enthralling and the halo world was mysterious. landing on the halo and finding the marines spread across the alien world. the flood moment was daring and cool and hella memorable. there are a couple of missions here that are all timers. the last mission is a proper marathon. cool af game. the feelings I got here were literally NEVER replicated in the sequels and its baffling. the series for me became ALL about the multiplayer after this.

2 was a very disappointing campaign for me despite the arbiter storyline being very interesting. the level design fucking sucked. they took away that fucking legendary sprawling level that they demoed at e3 and replaced it with garbage. the graphics problems were glaring to a 13 yo.

then 3 came and left no impressions and was filled with plenty of bad moments of its own (the classicly bad gravemind scene lol). still no level design or feelings I got from CE. added a bunch of redundant guns. dont remember that much.

Reach I dont remember at all which is crazy bc I played it chronologically after 3. The characters were weirdly unmemorable for an entry that tried to do more with the characters.

havent played the new one yet.

The first Halo campaign is kind of ass. I replayed 1-5 over the last year and 1 was such a grind it wasn’t even fun

Man I hung out with a friend today who has a Quest 2 and got to try out Resident Evil 4 in VR. RE4 is my favorite game of all time and this felt like a brand new experience. Legitimately the most fun I’ve had in VR.

I bought a quest 2 a few days ago. I’m doing Lies Beneath first but RE4 is next. So beyond stoked.

Kind of weird how at a certain point in the story the open world just kind of stops being a thing, I know it’s typical of like final missions in open world games to kind of lock you out of it for a while but it happened way sooner than I expected here.

i did some fobs and keeps and squads and stuff around the map, but after a certain point yeah it seemed to kind of just automatically direct me through the main story anyway

it took me 10.5 hours which seems pretty average based on howlongtobeat. im gonna mess around and clean up the map now which will add some more time

I’m playing on heroic and cleaning up literally everything and I’m sure I’m close to that but nowhere close to being done. I think you are right though, if you are playing JUST the main storyline it’s an 8-10 hour campaign.

I just played my second hour of Lies Beneath and I am praying to heaven that this game is over soon lol

It's so good but also so fucking scary and tense, without any meaningful respite.

It’s up next after Halo. I’ve heard it’s a pretty chill easy completion.

    Player's Log: Indivisible.

It feels like it's been a long time since I said I was going to start this game. I finally got an opportunity tonight.

First, I know the backstory behind what happened to this game and the company behind it, and it's awful that the people who put their time and energy into making this game will never get to complete it because of the machinations of one disgusting and selfish individual.

It's also a shame because it is a pretty charming and fun game so far. Storywise it starts pretty generic; you're a girl training with her father in her village, your village gets attacked, and the father is killed before he can tell you his complicated backstory. Then you absorb your father's murderer, a soldier, and he now lives inside your head. This is the part that is not so generic. It continues from there.

The gameplay seems to be a mash-up of a Metroidvania and an RPG. You explore a 2D map with secrets to find just like a Metroidvania, but when you encounter an enemy, it switches to an RPG-style real-time battle where you can input button commands to attack, defend, heal, etc.

The A, B, etc. buttons are assigned to each party member and pressing another button like Up, Down, or RB changes what action that member takes. It's both intuitive and also has a bit of a learning curve. I'm especially having some problems learning the timing on blocking, but that's just me in every game.

The voice acting is... passable, but the art style is fantastic. Very colorful and pretty. And some of the characters are humorous. The second character you absorb is a real snarker.

And yes, that's the gimmick for this game, everyone you meet "joins your party" by getting absorbed into your head. During battle they pop out to fight, sometimes they pop out to talk, and you can go into an "inner realm" inside your head to talk to them directly. Not everyone helps with combat too; I absorbed a duo who will upgrade my abilities if I collect enough items. It's... weird.

Anyway, I'm enjoying this so far. Interested to see where the plot takes me. From what I understand, the game itself is complete; the only things left undone involve additional characters, including some guest stars, and of course any bugs still in the game will never be patched.
