This is horrifying. I have to think that most people don't realize how stretched thin most of our hospitals in the US are right now at this moment, with Delta and maybe some early Omicron mixed in, but before the Omicron rocket ship straight up of cases has even happened.

I do think we're headed for widespread sub-optimal care at hospitals all around the US, possibly even crisis standards of care, in places all around the country at basically the same time as the wave crashes over us. It means no pulling from pools of staffing, no pulling travel nurses and other healthcare workers from one hot spot to the next because they are all flaring up at once.

People keep talking about triaging the unvaccinated but those types of plans haven't been discussed yet and the wave is hitting us now. Hospitals will kick into whatever crisis standards of care plans they already have on the books. It's not going to just be unvaccinated people surprised that they're dying - it's gonna be everyone else when they get into a car accident or have a stroke or your kid has an asthma attack on the field.

This article plainly shows that Omicron poses EXACTLY the type of threat the United States has shown repeatedly we are incapable of dealing with.

How long until Republicans start basically running on "Vote for us, or we'll get our supporters to kill themselves" by arguing the low numbers of republicans getting vaccinated is that they don't trust the dems?

Have heard nothing from mayor, union, department of Ed chancellor, superintendent, or principal. They were turning away teachers in my school from testing today because for some reason they can’t give more than a certain amount of tests
