so disappointing that the election was probably decided largely on covid response and we continue to have a pathetic failure of leadership

my grandparents were in a car accident a little over a month ago and my grandma is going to recover with injuries to her foot, hand, and neck, but my grandpa who was already on the decline due to dementia setting in is pretty much done for, he suffered a fall a few weeks back and clots on his lungs in the past month and when I saw him this past weekend for probably the last time he just looked dead. my mom has been at the assisted living home and preciously the hospital 10 hours a day taking care of him and my aunt and uncle that live in town have been helping when they can but they work and my mom doesn’t so she’s been stuck there non stop. so my family is a little pre occupied to be fighting over Covid shit and masks and vaccines

So my wife is def positive, just had it confirmed with a PCR. And I'm *sure* that I have it too, I was coughing all day yesterday, but all my tests keep coming back negative. Obviously I'm gonna be responsible and isolate anyway, but presumably there's plenty of people who wouldn't given a negative test. Has this happened to anyone else? Do some cases not get picked up by the tests?

 

yup, was fully symptomatic on a thursday, did a PCR and it came back negative.
by saturday I was positive.

pro-tip: if you are symptomatic, the standard at-home test has an accuracy of 99,5%.

 

Ah ok, thanks. I'll keep testing then I guess. It's just weird, my wife started coughing on Saturday and Sunday had a clear positive on the at home test. I'm surprised I'm not showing on the home tests yet.

 

my partner had a break through case in august, and I had been in the exposure period with her for probably four days before she got tested and it coming back positive. So we never actually quarantined from each other assuming I was a high risk exposure at that point, but I did stay home from work for ten days. I took three tests throughout the ten days and all came back negative.

So I mean I think maybe in your case the vaccine could be working and you just have a cough from a cold? But the tests are pretty reliable, I’ve taken a PCR and two rapid antigen tests the last week to travel and had the same negative results.

 

so the way it went for me was:

- my live-in partner came down with covid like symptoms, tested negative
- I came down with covid like symptoms, tested negative
- she recovered within 3 days, all the while testing negative.
- I stayed sick and tested positive on the 3rd day of being symptomatic. was sick for like a week.
- she never tested positive.

what I am trying to say is you might not have it.

It's all very confusing.

My wife started coughing Saturday.
Had a positive LFT on Sunday, but a negative PCR.
Positive LFT again on Monday
Positive PCR yesterday.

She spoke to the NHS hotline after her negative PCR and they said that sometimes the LFTs show a positive result for other respiratory illnesses like bronchitis, which we had never heard before, but just made things more confusing.

Meanwhile I started coughing Monday evening, but have been testing negative since Sunday. I felt fairly run down yesterday but don't feel too bad at all today. So maybe I don't have it. Just seems weird that I wouldn't, especially as I have a dry cough.

 

When both my wife and I had Rona in February, we each tested negative (both PCR and Rapid) and then a few days later, tested positive.

My son tested positive last month and my daughter was symptomatic both before and after he had Covid and we literally tested her six times (both at-home and at doctors office) and all negative. But she had all of the classic Covid symptoms and her brother was positive. So...
