I'm not going to defend Microsoft but I'm also not going to dismiss them either.

It actually annoyed me slightly, even though I have never owned a Microsoft console, that Microsoft seemed to be so hands off when it came to supporting their console. I'd actually prefer they get more exclusives to show they're actually taking things seriously. That might sound weird, especially since I gain nothing from it.

Then again, I'm largely a PC gamer nowadays, so I don't really have much of a horse in this race.

The Bethesda acquisition was clearly just a giant fuck you show of how much money and power Microsoft has

To be fair, in reading some of the details, Microsoft didn't acquire Bethesda so much as acquire ZeniMax, which includes Bethesda. And it could've been worse: apparently before Microsoft, Robert Altman (the chairman of ZeniMax) was considering selling ZeniMax to EA.

    I don’t know if I’d go that far…

i would rather them be under Microsoft than someone like Amazon or Ten Cent.

Same diff i use them interchangeably I don’t even know what else is under ZeniMax since they’re just synonymous with Bethesda to me. Didn’t know that about EA though, thank god that didn’t happen, no telling if BioWare is ever going to recover, as a fanboy of the series I have very high hopes for dragon age 4 but with the departure of the series lead or whoever recently it’s not looking promising on that game bringing them back to some semblance of the ‘glory days.’

Fair point, I guess I was just trying to clarify cause one thing that's been bothering me with this conversation is the way we're talking like Microsoft just one day decided to buy Bethesda like the Capture Claw in Toy Story picking up the alien dolls.

It's more like Bethesda was always going to be sold, it was a matter of who the buyer ended up being. And yes, thank God it wasn't EA.

hey everyone - Last weekend I said I'd be back once we had updates to share around near term playlist plans for Halo Infinite. I'm happy to report that a Slayer playlist is officially locked and loaded for the update next week. Four new playlists: Slayer, Fiesta, FFA, and Tactical Slayer (SWAT) will all be added via a services update on Tuesday, Dec. 14.

As I noted last week, the team's original plans for a Slayer playlist included a variety of new variants that weren't going to be ready in time to deploy before the holiday break. To address player feedback for Slayer in the near term, we'll be releasing a basic Slayer offering to start and will look to bolster and expand with more variants in a future update.

Next week's update will also include adjustments to challenges including removing some particularly frustrating mode-specific ones, reducing some requirements for others, making the weekly ultimate challenge less intensive (getting there is tough enough), and adding brand new challenges specific to the new playlists. Personally I'm eager to check out a new challenge category that's based on accumulating player score (a small initial step towards 'performance based XP'). We'll have some more details to share on Halo Waypoint next week.

Lastly, on a semi-related note - please know that the team is aware of and actively investigating reports of intermittent hiccups affecting some players in BTB over the last few days. Additionally, the team is continuing to review Ranked matchmaking and player feedback around potential anomalies.

Thank you to everyone who has shared constructive feedback and filed support tickets for issues you're running into! More to come. Have a great weekend

That’s great and glad they are super responsive to what people are looking for. I haven’t played much MP but I’ll definitely be playing a lot more after those updates.

The 360 did that. You got a rating based upon your "online behavior" and if it got bad enough you wouldn't match up with anyone in online matches or your chat would be disabled for a period.

It’s doable and playable but I didn’t find it particularly enjoyable. I tried to play infinite that way and neither the image quality nor the input lag were up to par, also while using tens of gigs of data in an hour.

theres a couple years of r&d to be sure

but damn you gotta get an internet plan without a data cap - for all consumers sake

Oh we don’t have data caps in Europe, but it still feels oddly wasteful.

i wonder which is more wasteful if msoft and sony had a big server to stream games or for everyone to still buy consoles

I mean if we are talking the BIGGER PICTURE and being wasteful, environment, etc? It absolutely makes more sense for them to try and optimize streaming and stop making plastic boxes.
