I genuinely doubt anyone but me gives a fuck about Forespoken - especially to the extent it would sway their purchase of a system one way or another.

 

It looks very cool but timed exclusivity is high school mentality.

Am I missing something here? Don't Xbox and Nintendo still do console exclusives?

 

I mean Square Enix has clearly found that this sort of risk mitigation works for them and allows them to take more creative risks by making sure that development is largely paid for by platform holders, but I just don't see the inherent value in this specific deal.

Nintendo develops theirs in house, so it's a little easier to stomach.
I am still pretty mad about Microsoft buying Bethesda, talk about a merger no one needed.

 

They do. My statement goes for all of them but PS is definitely the worst offender.

Definitely feels like Microsoft are judged more leniently than they deserve for their purchases and exclusivity decisions

 

I think Sony’s acquisitions so far have been very calculated to help fill in and round out their current structure, certainly nothing egregious.

 

Man, if only every game company could be merged into one entity and make a console that played every game ever. They could call it the Sosoftdo Playbox... Switch. Okay, I admit the joke kind of petered out there, but you get the idea.

 

Because they’re considered the underdog. Lol. Absurd.

 

There are two conversations going on here: timed exclusivity and acquisitions. I completely agree that the PS acquisitions have been calculated and they are all companies that they have worked closely with.

Timed exclusivity for any company is just plain silly, but at the end of the day it’s business and competition.

 

Outside the vacuum that is chorus this is not the case.

This is more or less how I feel. I am pretty much okay with exclusives and whatever, because I get it from a business perspective, and any negative feeling I have about it is strictly jealousy and sour grapes.

Like my distaste for Epic Game Store isn't really based in rational thought, it's mainly because I don't want another storefront on my computer and want everything in my Steam library.

As for acquisitions, it depends on who is acquiring. Like if Nintendo buys someone, I'm down for it. If EA buys someone, then red alert. No pun intended.

 

All they're doing is guaranteeing I only get their games in a Steam sale or Humble Bundle.
