How many people under 40 even have cable anymore? Might as well just put any channel marketed to that crowd on autopilot

 

I have cable bundled in with my internet because it saves me money, but I almost never use it, except for new episodes of Always Sunny

 

On that Disney list, I think there’s only 5 things on there I’d want to actually watch.

 

At the risk of defending Disney, isn't Spider-Man a much bigger movie than The Matrix 4? Spider-Man is bringing back all the other characters and seems like a big event for people while The Wachowskis have been making critical and commercial failures for a long time. If you picked a Matrix movie at random, it would probably be a bad one.

 

Feel like this is more what’s going on in this specific instance than Sony (who distributes Spider-Man movies) muscling out other movies. Theater chains are still pissed at WB.

 

All that is fair but Disney does have a history of it, and whatever the root causes it’s disappointing to see it muscle out one of the only prominent mainstream trans filmmakers in the US. So when I see that list, I see those films taking up a whole lot of space that they don’t need to.

i believe sony profits from the movies' box office returns whereas disney receives merchandising, correct me if i'm wrong

 

Sony also distributes the movies, not Disney. Disney is involved creatively but Sony handles the actual release. They are the rights-holder regardless of the deal they worked out with Disney.

 

The real most anticipated movie of 2022 should be Jackass 4
