very frustrated. Silent Hill has super cool mythos and I think the games have design flaws that mar their experiences. it's a very accurate transplant of the atmosphere and character design and had really good special effects for its time iirc. but fundamentally its plot and pacing just did not make any sense and ultimately made it nonfunctional.

Hahaha. Of course you're not ruining it! I always try to approach a movie with an open mind. But I do like knowing the opinions of people I trust.

I can't believe it's 10 years old already. I like it. It's pretty disjointed, but the tone and visuals are fantastic.

I would agree with the pacing and disjointed points for Silent Hill. Maybe because video game and horror movies at that point were so bottom of the barrel for the time but the atmosphere, cinematography, creature design all had me so happy while watching it. Probably still my favorite video game adaptation.

Fede Alvarez's Evil Dead is getting a directors cut on blu ray. Can't wait for that.

Evil Dead was a top notch remake, I gotta say.

I'm pumped, I loved the ED remake and I always wondered if they were going to release a director's cut.

I think I'm one of the few who just didn't like the ED remake. I equate it to Cabin in The Woods where it was little substance, just a bunch of gore and blood splatter.

I'd say Cabin in The Woods was the better of the two.

They're two different movies though. One is a remake and the other is a meta horror comedy that spends it's entire length poking fun at horror movie tropes. They're not even that comparable, as the cabin in CITW is just a part of a giant set designed to kill people. Come on, dude.

I didn't like either of them to be honest. I think I'm over the Eli Roth style of horror were you're trying to out prosthetic or out splatter other horror movies.

Basically if you're budget consists mostly of Karo syrup and silicone/latex, I'm over it.

Were you designed in a lab to be an overly infuriating person with the sole mission protocol of posting statements aimed at getting people to argue with you?

i don't think that citw was trying to do that at all. like darkhotline said, it was very self aware and clever and i think that's where the focus lies. an abundance of gore/blood is merely a byproduct and one may even say that it also was one of the elements being parodied (if i can use that word)

I need to rewatch Cabin In The Woods again. I only saw it once and didn't really get it until the end.

Hey now, no need to be mean. I've had plenty of cool conversations with that user. I agree both films only seem similar on the surface and you guys above explained why.

The ED remake was more than just gore to me (even though it was glorious). I thought it was beautifully shot and paced so well. I wonder if the Directors Cut will be like a "5 uncut minutes" or longer scenes that actually change the story.
