Did it end up being true that it was actually the shooter they're talking to? I've been seeing mixed things

dude's such a scumbag. Knowingly tried to kill his opponent.

Lines up with what we've heard about the disease progress when it gets serious too. People are sick for 5-7 days and then all of a sudden hit a wall and crash.

Cause for optimism on Omicron: Our immune systems aren't blank slates

"The emergence of a new Covid-19 variant with a startlingly large constellation of mutations has countries around the world sounding alarms. While the concerns are understandable, immunologists say people need to remember a critical fact: Two years and 8 billion vaccine doses into the pandemic, our immune systems are not blank slates. Omicron may more easily sidestep some of the immunity of some vaccinated and previously infected people. But there’s good reason to think people with some immune protections may avoid the worst of what Covid infections can do to immunologically naïve people. “The virus is going to not find it as easy compared to the situation in January 2020 or December 2019. It’s just completely different now."

I would like to think this would be true for any variant from here on out.

South Fulton has a population greater than that of South Bend. So, I’m sure the dem establishment will prop up this gay mayor with the same vigor as Mayo Pete, right?

While I think this is true, as we saw with the Delta wave, there is absolutely no political motivation (negative motivation in fact) to deal with the spread of COVID. With Delta, on a macroscopic level, vaccine immunity and policy more or less cancelled each other out: the Delta wave was nearly as bad as the first wave in terms of deaths and twice as bad in terms of hospitalizations. These were disproportionately skewed towards those who were unvaxed of course, but it was clear that anything resembling "herd immunity" wasn't happening and I'm personally not in love with the idea of 2000 people dying a day even if 80% of those people are unvaccinated.

I guess the overall point being that, although on a technical level we are far, far better prepared for any variant than we were two years ago and therefore should be able to avoid even a sizeable outbreak, politically it really doesn't seem like we care in the least. We'll see how the two balance each other out in the coming months, but the handling (i.e. the ignoring) of the Delta wave does not leave me particularly confident

It's gonna be real disgusting watching the dem consultant class rejoice when SCOTUS overturns Roe. They will post things like "SCOTUS just gave us a gift for the midterms."

It is the same cruel thinking that motivated the dems to craft the "universal pre-k" plan in BBB as a State administered program that can be rejected by red states. If the dems wanted, they could have just made it a federal program so that no republican governor could opt out. That would have obviously helped more people. But they think this way, they can leverage the red states opting out to get more votes. In other words, they are going to let people in red states suffer, hoping that their suffering will motivate them to vote for dems.

    These people are deranged.

Republicans (correctly) believe they can earn votes by making the correct people suffer.

Dems (incorrectly) believe they can earn votes by letting republicans do it.

100%. and we should always remind them how little they chose to do when it mattered most.

no longer will PMCs be able to blame Biden's loss and America's descent into literal fascism on the voters, this is entirely on this stuck up class of vile assholes who chose their own self-interests over, honestly, everyone's future.
