This doesn’t surprise me in the least and a lot of what’s listed here seems pretty…synchronistic if not coincidental (particularly the green neon Q that shows up fairly early on in the series). Most conspiracy theories and cult followings have some sort of belief system loosely borrowed or rooted in aspects of pop culture. I’ve mentioned it before but I swear Watkins is borrowing plot points from Stephen King novels because the whole adrenochrome, killing children to steal their “fear” and keep you younger as part of an ancient secret-society-satanic-cabal is literally straight out of Doctor Sleep. When I brought it up previously, Jason even mentioned Monsters Inc. is basically the same thing and that genuinely wouldn’t surprise me either. Can I picture Ron Watkins reading comic books? Yeah of course. Can I picture him sitting down to watch an episode of Gotham? You bet. Can I picture him reading Stephen King novels? Mmhmm. Can I imagine a scenario wherein he sits down with these varying fantasy storylines he’s digested and decides to crib from them, spinning thread into gold? Of course. It’s just a bunch of internet nerds larping with real world consequences. Makes me sick to think that it all boils down to a guy who gets off on quite literally tearing families apart and inciting political violence. The Into The Storm documentary made that part quite clear.

 

Isn’t this just the plot of Blade Runner 2049?

lol I was mostly Alkaline Trio and then other random assortments of songs.

A lot of my friends, especially the girls had a lottttttt of Dashboard and TBS and Brand New from what I remember. My ex was fully into the scene at the time we met so I ended up hearing a lot of songs through her and the lyrics on her AIM messages and profile and in her livejournal and etc lol. Every Me Every You stands out in my memory as one I picked up from her.
