The Chorus.fm Users Definitive Films List

Discussion in 'Entertainment Forum' started by Aaron Mook, Nov 28, 2021.

  1. Fuck it. The Definitive Albums list was fun and I return to it quite often, so why not try for a Definitive Films list? Credit to @phaynes12 for laying out some rules that will carry over here.

It's pretty simple: rank your top 50 films of all-time. They can be your favorites, what you consider to be objectively the best, they can be your choice for most underrated, however you choose to interpret it. Just rank 50 films. Points will be assigned in reverse order (#1 album gets 50 points/#50 gets 1). We can base the final number of films featured on the list on how many unique nominations we receive.

Post your lists here (or send them to me if necessary), tag anyone who might like to participate, and get those picks in by December 23rd so I can put it together over the holiday weekend.

And most of all, have fun dunking on each others' picks! 'Tis the season!

  4. Oh crap, I'd really have to think about this. I used to love Fincher, Nolan, PTA, Coen bros, etc., but after coming out as a trans woman two years ago, I really had to re-evaluate what kinds of films (and filmmakers/actors/etc) really matter to me, not to mention how the Horror Thread on here has really influenced my tastes these last couple years. If I were to do this even just five years ago it would've been vastly different, I imagine.

  5. I'm probably gonna start with my Letterboxd ratings, then my personal collection, and finally any lists submitted prior to mine to throw into bias sorter for something concrete.

  6. (And just a reminder that we have plenty of time to do this, over three weeks so no rush)

50, eh? I’m gonna have to work on a list but definitely interested.

  9. 50 does feel kind of like a lofty goal, but 25 also seems too low. I think if anyone can hit 50, the folks on this site can.

man this is hard. 50 is so few, it's helping me be more decisive about which films mean more to me though I guess, haha. I think there's a few I need to re-watch.
