So you have a bunch of hardcore gaming geeks, geeks of all types on here, and none of us give a single fuck about VR. Everything else we got covered. It's never going to be a highly desired way to play.

Which means, why dedicate so much to something that wont make any damn money

  3. Maybe it's for "filthy casuals" who don't frequent gaming forums

You know, that casual gamer that buys a $500 VR headset. Just the usual.

I personally don’t see a lot of talk about VR and I consider myself pretty up to date.

I’m sure VR will be great once the tech is there to actually make it worthwhile beyond a few gimmicky games. It’s not there yet and won’t be any time soon.

Disagree on all fronts, but you do you. I don't talk about VR anymore in here solely because people shit on it like saying "people don't give a fuck" about it.

Besides it being an objective fact that main stream gaming media very scarcely reports or updates anything on VR, you are king shitter!!!

Welllllllllll, if someone mentions a specific game in here there is a 80% chance you tell them it sucks. I find it hilarious though.

I don't do that, but I certainly used to like a year ago.

Unless that game is RDR2, that's always gonna be trash.

Also, on the subject of VR, I would like to put out there that I do find VR to be fascinating and the prospects to be full of promise, but I also do agree it's going to be a while before we have full-fledged unique experiences in VR.

It's great that titles are being ported to VR and there are definitely some VR original games that I find to be cool, but I think it's going to be a long time before we have a AAA title made exclusively for VR.

VR won't be anything more than a gimmick until the cost and setup is accessible to non-enthusiasts. It just won't be worth the development costs for most studios to make a game with such a small install base

I don't disagree with some of this, but I also don't know why people can't do basic research or even a quick Google search to find out how wrong they are about most misconceptions about VR. The business has been doing very well for companies like Oculus and having a built in gaming market like Sony with PlayStation has led them to double down and redesign the headset and controllers for PSVR2. Sony isn't just throwing away their money. They saw what people didn't like about the first model, see what Oculus and others are doing and then they're making improvements. It just seems ridiculous that people don't even try to understand anything they're talking about when it comes to this.

I also think Oculus having their completely wireless, all inclusive headset did absolute wonders for the perception of casual VR.

I mean, there's a difference between saying there needs to be a wider adoption of VR for there to be more than a handful of non-gimmicky games to be made and saying VR's dead in the water and there's no reason to think it'll grow.

On a related note, I like the fact that any game I own on Steam with a VR version gives me the VR version for free. If I ever decide to buy a VR headset, I'll have a library ready to go.

And on that note, before I forget:

Player's Log: Horace. 100% complete. Done. All achievements unlocked. Even the multiple choice one, which was easily resolved by copying my save at the point of no return and pasting it after getting one achievement so I could get the other.

There's still some secret stuff I can find apparently, but there are no achievements for doing it and it doesn't unlock anything to my knowledge, so I don't care. Moving on.

I'm going to try Abzu next and see how fun it is, and if it turns out to be boring, I'll move on to Virginia. Either way, I'm really hoping to have a relaxing experience this time, cause Horace was challenging as fuck.

Now that it's over, I'm not sure how I feel about Horace as a game to recommend. It was fun, and the plot took some tragic turns that I wasn't expecting, and the ending was fairly satisfying, but it also had several annoying and unskippable minigames and some really complicated hazard rooms that really drove me up a wall a few times. And yet it didn't ever seem really unfair, and they definitely included a lot of anti-frustration measures. It's just one of those love-it-or-hate-it kind of experiences, I guess.

Abzu is great and not boring at all. There are a ton of puzzles and and interactive elements. Even a stealth section. But also very relaxing. Just be aware, it easy to go through and miss a bunch of achievements.

Upon checking, apparently even if I miss something in the first playthrough, afterward I can use Chapter Select to get anything I missed, which is great.

    Play the Yakuza series

On to chapter 9 of GotG, the story really gets going in these last couple of chapters. It was good at the start but man, there's some really really great stuff when you hit chapter 6 onwards.
