consdiering my long term play with the money I invested was travel, aka an airline and cruise lines, this new variant has been just fantastic lol.

im considering buying more though because of how low they’ve gotten, especially Norwegian cruise lines.

I feel like the only thing I've learned for certain in the last year is that the market is rigged and makes no sense

Given the inflation I put 20k into I bonds. Better than leaving it in the bank.

I remember getting savings bonds as gifts all the time as a kid and have no idea what happened to all of them. I had no idea what they were and still don't.

Anything in particular for water? I have a little in PHO and CGW but they track about the same, not sure why I have both tbh.

Not super complicated, general piece of advice is that your investments in bonds, as a percentage, should match your age. So if you're 30, 30 percent bonds, 70 percent stocks and options. They're very low risk and as a result low reward.

There are many many types of bonds depending who you're looking at. I stick with treasury bonds of which there are a few. The I bond guarantees a percentage growth matching inflation and adjusts every six months. Right now it's at 7.12% since inflation is so high. The markets predict continued high inflation this year so you'll at least be keeping up.

The caveat is you can't cash out for a while. If you cash out before five years you'll sacrifice the last three months of interest growth. So envision it as a better rate CD account.

Okay that makes a little mroe sense. Are all I-Bonds 5 years? I know savings bonds generally have a year that they "mature", but I imagine I-bonds are a bit different?

Technically you can withdraw from I bonds at any time, but they "mature" at 20 years. After five years though you can withdraw without penalty so honestly it's a little confusing.

Then there are EE bonds, that will, no matter what, double in value after 20 years.

I'm thinking of dumping into REITs to protect against inflation. Basically, agriculture is recession proof more or less cuz ppl gotta eat. Good or bad idea?

edit: should have specified farmland REITs.

REITs had crazy growth last few years, think it's a safe bet. I'm probably gonna just dump in a few vanguard ETFs
