I like the lyrics just fine

I think he's just gotten in the habit of writing a lot of cliches.

the lyrics aren't bad but they're incredibly bland from someone who used to write such interesting and unique songs. I feel the same about it musically, the whole song is just decent across the board.

His lyrics are missing the charm they used to have that let them walk on the correct side of cheesy.

  5. What does "it's a day with a Y in it" mean?

The song is fine. Verses are much more interesting than the chorus. His lyrics have always been corny but sincere, this just leans a little more into the former than usual.

I just want a Frank song to unabashedly love from this record and so far neither are all the way there. And I liked most of BMK and some of NML.

Frank and Matt Nasir were fucking awesome tonight! Felt surreal seeing them up there on stage after all these terrible months.

They did “The Gathering” and “Haven’t Been Doing So Well” together and he later played solo “A Wave Across a Bay.” This is his song about Scott Hutchinson and his passing. It’s a deeply personal song that left him visibly emotional by the end. It’s a terrific song.

He even played the Million Dead song “Smiling at Strangers on Trains!”

Definitely my favourite so far, love the vocal delivery. not the biggest fan of the music itself though.

Wow, that’s extremely amazing to read. Great for both of them!

Also I could have read it wrong, but I think this song is out Friday. Excited to hear it

That’s really cool, a close friend of mine has a very similar experience with her parent. I’m glad we’re at a point we’re this still can be talked about more openly. Unless Dave Chappelle is around.

the lyrics are a little too on the nose, but i like ‘Miranda’. It sounds like its from the TDH era.

Very, very, very slowly and carefully growing some anticipation for this.

I really like both the recently released songs.

Agree that Miranda feels very on the nose, but I suspect that might come from Frank being relatively careful with his words on this particular subject. Anyway, I thought it was a nice song, especially thinking back to something like Father's Day from the debut.

As a transgender person who came out this year. It’s such a sweet song and tbh so refreshing to hear this perspective and drawing the distinction that Miranda is a better and more whole person than her father ever was.

It is missed often amongst the less introspective vs the visual changes people see.
