Just like the Fearless rerecord, it’s a mixed bag. Some cool new versions mixed on with a lot that I probably won’t go back to due to familiarity and attachment.

mostly though, this made me feel very old. This came out the month after I broke up with my first girlfriend and went away to university, and then a few months later fell in love again. So going back to this is a massive nostalgia trip, and was fun and frightening in equal measures.

I still love this record though.

 

didn't jacknife do how to dismantle an atomic bomb like a decade before the original version of this album? i'd say he's known a lot about production/been good at it for a while now haha

 

I could not agree less. Haha. The original is a top 10 Swift song for me and the drum sound is a huge part of why. This has none of the magic of that recording.

But hey to each their own

 

Ed's voice has gotten noticably better and smoother

 

I mostly am just shitting on how lifeless the original is. Feel free to not take me literally. Haha

Edit: Though I will say Wildness was a whole new tier for anything I’ve heard from him.

Gary Lightbody’s vocals got noticeably worse. Which is a shame. I really love them in the original.

 

It’s getting to the point where I dread remasters of classics I love for this reason. Tusk sounds like a whole different album. I’ll keep my CD forever. Haha

 

Whaaaaaaaaat? They finally have real character. Letting his accent creep into his singing more is the best thing that ever happened to him.

 

I adored Red when it came out, and this re-recording made me fall in love with it all over again.

The Atmos mix is great too, my first time listening to a record that way and I think it rocks!

 

i can’t think of many singers who have fallen off harder than snow patrol dude since 2005

 

Wildness was stunning, and their old stuff could be kinda boring.

 

Taylor swift is legitimately the only reason I even know who they/he are/is

that’s actually kinda wild. you seem like a big chocolate/chasing cars guy.

 

I struggled to get into Wildness and ultimately think it's hit-and-miss, and I thought Fallen Empires was pretty bad overall, but none of that had to do with Gary Lightbody's voice. I think his voice sounds as great as it ever did. I know he struggled with writer's block for years and stuff, but his singing is still on point.

Eyes Open is very good too.

 

Did she and Max Martin have a falling out? He seems very noticeably absent here. Especially with Shellback returning.
