Dennis also confirmed there will be no extended cut of part one, the theatrical cut will be the only version

I mean I love this movie and I’m so happy it’s getttin a sequel but they are not “healthy” box office numbers. It’s probably losing money at the box office, probably make it up on streaming, with hopes the sequel will make money with a smaller budget. This thing probably isn’t even
    Breaking even until 500 million

it's incredibly healthy given the state of movies the last 18 months

Your estimates are too high. It's reported production budget is $165, so the break-even point is probably about double that (as is standard), or ~$330 million. (The Wrap actually cited box office analysts that estimated it to be less than that.) And it's already past that worldwide, and that's not counting the HBO Max streaming impact. It's doing quite well, all things considered.

Agreed; this will easily make a profit for WB/Legendary. And the sequel will do even better, knowing the bigger role that Zendaya will play, the fighting, and worm riding

I think this movie is doing well all things considered pandemic wise. This movie, including marketing which matters for the breakeven, is well over $165 for the budget and it’s silly to think otherwise

Anyway I find box office numbers incredibly fun to watch and I’m not trying to argue I could just think about this stuff all day lol

Read my post again. I said the break-even point is probably ~330 million, or double the production budget, as is industry standard.

I'm not sure if it's because I'm unfamiliar with the other movies and books, but this movie didn't really do much for me. It was beautiful to look at, but kinda boring? Felt very slow and stretched out.

I wondered this after watching, where I did feel like I was filling in a lot of what was actually going on with my (albeit many years old and rusty) knowledge of the book. I loved the movie and enjoyed it very much, but it absolutely felt like A LOT of the story didn't make it to the screen. I don't really see any other or better way to make a normal feature length film out of this story, but I felt like a lot of my enjoyment hinged on me filling in the backstory - and sometimes actual story - of what was actually going on for myself.

I could be dead wrong about that as it does seem that a lot of people unfamiliar with the book(s) are really enjoying this movie and having a positive reaction.
