Ordered spiritbox’s repressed s/t last week and it arrived yesterday - actually felt weird to have such a quick turnaround between a release and arrival. Pretty barebones packaging but so glad to have this one.

What percentage of those will be bought by people who don't own record players and never play their vinyl?

Not only does Adele bring juggernaut sales, but this is coming out just in time for holiday shopping. They'll sell them all.

Frankly, there just needs to be more capacity to press and manufacture vinyl. The problem is just going to get worse and worse until there’s a really major effort to get more presses and pressing plants online. And from the sounds of it, Sony Music should be making that investment!

I mean yeah it makes total sense. Batch pressing 50,000k copies is more financially sustainable for a plant than 50 separate 1,000 pressings with replacing the negatives and other disruptions down the operations process. Just sucks because it does screw over the smaller bands and labels and it makes absolutely no sense for someone to try and start a new pressing plant when this "phase" does begin to die out again (has been surging since 2013+ and hit a huge peak during COVID).

Insane that I fully believe 50% of those will never ever be listened to and that a large percentage will be glued/taped to dorm walls.

    Two questions:
    1) Why are there no options to just by the vinyl and not the t-shirts?!
    2) Are these t-shirts handwoven from fucking unicorn hairs or something, wtf are those prices?

I’ve basically cut my vinyl budget to one, maybe 2 records a month. And even that is dependent on what album it is. I’ll go up to $35 or so if it’s a band I adore, but I try to stay around $20-$25 otherwise fuck it.

they’ve gotten so expensive, and a lot of the record I’ve been getting for awhile were fuckin warped or sounded pretty bad anyway. I’d rather be buying cassettes right now tbh, cheaper and a higher profit margin for bands I like. CD’s are a great alternative as well, especially for the sound quality. The cassette thing is more of an aesthetic recreation of a garage project I’m working on.

I think these are the only 4 record I’ve bought since August…
