There's a song teaser up on their Twitter that sounds fantastic, comes out Oct. 28.

 

I’m still wondering why they dropped Figure Eight nearly two years ago now, and it was seemingly one of their most popular songs to date… then nothing else til now. Also that teaser sounds almost like they’re going back to their pre-American Dream sound? Interesting.

 

I know the vocalist had some solo projects he was focusing on at the time, and then the pandemic happened. My guess is they've been working on music the past couple years, and maybe also enjoying the break a little bit?

 

Enjoy all of their stuff but was really hoping for more stuff in the vein of Figure Eight tbh

 

judging by the singers tweets lockdown has not been a positive experience for him, so I’m not shocked the new track is gonna be a throwback

I do know he personally thinks The American Dream is their best work so I doubt they’ll ditch the style permanently

 

So the new song doesn't have any harsh vocals and is actually not doing anything for me, I don't really like the hard rock direction. Bummed since I was lukewarm on this record but liked Figure 8.

I just want something to hit me like the first EP and the first two records did. Really special place in my heart for those releases.

 

New song officially dropped a day early. I’m really enjoying it!

 

The harsh vocals are there in the mix in the bridge but they're just a bit too drowned out by the gang vocals on top, so I think it was a little misleading them using that a teaser for the track since they're there but also kind of not. That said, it's a great track overall!

I mean, it's a good song, but.. I'm afraid they're falling into the same trap as another Australian band I used to love - Hands Like Houses. Ditching most of their own sound for a more watered down rock formula. I'm not saying this is necessarily what's happening , or that they won't make that work, but it made me loose all interest in HLH.

 

I can definitely see this concern. Even though I still enjoy some newer Hands Like Houses on its own terms, they definitely are not what they once were.

 

Sounds like they're going down the BMTH highway.

 

Not really grabbing me with that new single. I will for sure check out the album at least.

 

I much preferred the direction of what Figure Eight was building from The American Dream if I'm honest.

Not a bad single though.

 

Pretty natural progression for them given the last album and current trends in the scene. The vocals will continue to help this band stick out amongst the rest.

I still compare the current fushion of synth/pop in hardcore/pop punk music to Linkin Park doing it like 15 years ago.

Yeah, this sounds exactly like Boston Manor’s recent output. It’s fine, but like others have said, nothing is really grabbing me.

 

I like the song, hate the production. Vocals get too muddled

 

I like this one a lot

 

This rules. Much more in line with what I thought they were gonna do after Figure Eight

 

Love the new song, there’s one more track to come soon with no current plans for an album featuring these 3 tracks.

I like these new songs but the production bothers me.
