I think that they should have given fans a chance to purchase the record by now

what would fans have gotten out of that, really? what benefit is there to be purchasing a record two months before the label even has the records in hand? what would happen if the records ended up two months late? more complaints.
i truly believe preorders should not go up until records are in hand.

Impulse purchases. Fans don't get anything but the band does.

so you want the opportunity to be screwed with a purchase you don't end up being into? and potentially won't even receive when the album comes out?

I wouldn't, bc I don't usually preorder anything other than digital lossless of bands that I love. But it's just an opportunity for the band to make more money which I'm always down for.

I would love if all album rollouts were a month or less.

Yea, I just think all roll outs should start with a preorder

I feel like this entitlement when it comes to album rollouts/release strategy has become way more prominent over the past couple of years. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I just don't really remember people complaining about this stuff 5-10 years ago. And I think album rollouts used to often be even longer than they are now.

i think surprise drops/short term digital bandcamp releases have made people reconsider what a album cycle should be, whatever best fits towards their own selfish needs

i haven't even been listening to leaks lately, just waiting for stream

Crazy how people say hype is dying just because there isn't a constant stream of info and content day in and day out

I agree that starting a rollout with a preorder is preferable for the fans, but I'm always way more interested in getting a release date before anything else.

Like with this record, I was so happy when the title got announced, but not having a release date was a little frustrating, haha.

This is one of the only things it doesn't make sense to pre-order. Digital is unlimited. Physical versions are not.

That was kind of my point. I dont want the preorders for me but so that the bands can get maximum sales. There are people who would preorder records impulsively lol

  17. fwiw, i'm like 90% sure this will end up in my top five and also i think it's better than the season

so there's some hype for ya, especially coming from someone who didn't really care for movement and wasn't expecting this release to be much different

Yeah, protracted album releases are frustrating for me, especially for something like this, for which I feel I've been waiting so long.

Movement is so good, I get why he didn't go in that direction here but would have been interesting. Can't wait to hear his solo record next year as well. Nathan is da man
