It’s opening here seemed a bit muted but seems like it’s doing plenty fine overseas!

Second viewing tonight. Ending hit harder this time around, knowing they actually do the thing.

we've seen the shadow of the axe before Supporter

Thoroughly enjoyed this. I figured Fukunaga would have a long tracking shot without edits at some point, so it was cool when that finally came through. He also did some other trippy stuff with the camera during the heist scenes in the beginning that caught my attention. Ana De Armas is so great and wish we could have seen more of her character.

Daniel Craig was on Fallon and he asked Daniel to describe each movie in the series with one word or a story, when they got to QOS he said, "A lot of problems." LOL

What I’m really hoping they do moving forward is 1 or 2 movies with Nomi as 007 and maybe Paloma as her version of Felix. That way it can build on and expand the series and then once they’re ready for a new Bond it can be a full reboot or they keep the same universe and lean into the fan theory that the name Bond transfers to a new person to create a mythology around this “one” man.

I'm not sure what the point would be of doing this. Are we trying to show what a Bond universe would be like without Bond in it or are we just seeing what happens to these characters without Bond around? Like, I mean, would the movie still be focused on Bond, like some sort of specter (heh) hanging over the group, or would it just be a spinoff following these other characters?

If the latter, then I think that could still be done while still having Bond movies with a new Bond, couldn't it? I mean, otherwise Bond movies take so long to come out as it is, you'd end up with a good ten years without Bond. Not saying there have to be Bond movies at all, but it sounds like you're looking for new movies in that universe at the expense of the people who would want a new Bond.

They aren’t going to make another movie without a James Bond.

Mostly the latter. I just thing it would be really interesting to see what a Bond movie would look like without Bond in it. Use the same formula & style just not the character. I’d also be find with a new Bond, but it felt like there was a lot of set up and looking forward in this one that I’d like to see where that goes at least once rather than start fresh again right away.

I'm going to come clean here and say I haven't actually seen No Time To Die yet. I spoiled it for myself because that's what I do sometimes, so I know what happens.

With that said, is there a lot of setup for potential future installments?

A bond movie without bond is just another random spy movie. What would be the point?

I there’s some interesting threads that they can pick up with Nomi (the new 007), but thematically there’s also a lot about the next generation of MI6, the CIA, and more and I really enjoyed those characters. At the same time, if they announced tomorrow that John Boyega or Henry Cavill will take over as Bond in 2023 then I’ll be thrilled.

Unfortunately, we’ll probably never see Nomi again. Unless they do like Judi Dench’s M and carry her over without worrying about it.

Yeah, honestly it’s such a lazy take. His villain’s problems mostly come from the way the character is written.
