First time hearing of Burial Waves. Can someone shed some light on it for me?

It's basically a supergroup type deal with Kyle on vocals.

 

I can see that stuff satisfying Pianos fans who have been pining for their more traditionally heavy sound.

Lack Long After is sooo good. Just an absolute gut punch of an album. "I'll Get By" is a God damn masterpiece

I’m curious what it was like for old fans who were there for such an abrupt “about face” with keep you. I can’t think of too many bands that went from 100% screaming to 1% in one album cycle.

perhaps they were aware of the coming change from the band, but discovering them with keep you and then digging into their back catalogue is jarring.
