It’s kinda fucked up that someone wanted it in there and probably made someone else do it

Since I beat Eastward, I decided to dive into my backlog of other Chucklefish games.

Today, I played Inmost. It's a very weird, unsettling and dark side-scrolling game split into three stories. The main thrust of the game is a puzzle-platformer where a guy explores a gothic horror type castle/village/mountains dealie, gathering tools to progress further and find hidden collectibles, etc.

This breaks away every now and again to either straight puzzle-solving segments starring a girl exploring her house, or straight action segments where a knight fights shadow creatures while a girl's voice over narrates.

Three very different experiences, and it's not clear how they all link up with each other until the end of the game, where things take a very dark real-world turn.

One thing I have to give this game a lot of credit for is the sound effects, which really served to heighten the mood and kept me tense as the game went on. I do think the ending was a bit too long and had a couple sequences I wish were playable, but it was so well crafted, I can't really fault it too much.

I ended up getting about half of the achievements. I enjoyed my time with it, but I probably won't try to 100% it because a couple achievements are based around not getting any collectibles and also not dying, and that feels unfun to me. I may try to get the collectibles I missed; not sure.

Assuming I don't, I think tomorrow my next Chucklefish game will be Timespinner.

I have a TV finally. It’s a midrange 1080i Grundig from the 00s that used to belong to my fiancé’s late great-aunt.

    lol

I still can’t find a Series X and this lets me play Apex in my one home so it’s fine

Man can’t load BF beta at all right now. Played a lil yesterday, but it will not connect to any servers. I guess a lot of people have been experiencing it.

I’m not going to lie to you guys but I bought cyberpunk since it was only $10 at target and I also have a ps5 so it should run it somewhat better

i also had the employee ask me if it’s in a better state because he was like hey I might as well buy it also and I was like I’m not going to lie I can’t say it’s in a better place worth spending money on but I’m also using ps5 so it will be a little better.

Super Monke Ball is still such a good example of a timeless videogame ass videogame that brings back all those classic Sega vibes. It really sucks to see Toshihiro Nagoshi leave the company... hopefully they'll keep doing good on reviving their back catalogue over the next few years. Ports/remasters of Nights into Dreams, JSR/JSRF, Panzer Dragoon Orta, Ecco the Dolphin:DOTF, Crazy Taxi, Gunvalkyrie, a Sonic Adventure remake done via the Spyro and Crash collection, sequels Virtua Fighter, SMB and these other IPs, etc.

    Player's Log:

I decided to go for more achievements in Inmost and ended up getting them all save four, as they would require me to play the game a second time from the beginning, which I'm not prepared to do.

That said, I did get all the collectibles in the game and also got a set of six achievements linked to playing the knight levels and killing everything without getting hit once, which was super satisfying to complete.

Anyway, I'm putting Inmost aside and I'll start up Timespinner.

The other day I randomly remembered the existence of super monkey ball and watched a ton of videos of the original. Mega nostalgia man what a game

    Player's Log:

And as promised, I've started Timespinner, which is basically a Metroidvania with the time mechanics of Prince Of Persia. One of my powers is to temporarily stop time, and the plot involves going between time periods, so there's lots of timey-wimey action going on.

Beyond that, it's very 16-bit. Like, it really would not be out of place on the SNES, and the mechanics are a lot like Symphony Of The Night. There's experience points, equippable armor, orbs that give unique powers, and familiars that follow me around. In fact, the level design also feels heavily cribbed from SOTN. That's not a bad thing.

Chucklefish definitely seems to have a good eye for old school projects to publish. I'm not sure how long Timespinner will take me, but after I'm done with it, I also intend to play Wargroove, which I understand is like Advance Wars' lost baby.

divinity original sin 2 has completely grabbed me. im beyond obsessed and can’t wait to get deeper in I just got to the act 2 area and main town of driftwood and I’m just beside myself with the endless possibilities, the addicting combat, the multitudes of story lines to go pursue, the different ways to build each party member, I could go on and on but I’m gonna be writing about it on my new blog soon, which if anyone is interested in that I’ll be posting every week or so about whatever I’ve been playing

    Introducing: Sanctuary Gaming

And I also plan on streaming this game within the next week or so too, I’ll post my twitch when it happens if anyone is interested in watching

back 4 blood is getting good reviews but my main gripe with the game is still the fact the card system is confusing as heck

It's a really great game but it's really long and confusing so if you take a break, it'll be awful to come back to me (at least that's been my experience). I got 60 hours in on the PS4 before switching to play it on PC and I took a break after 30 hours for something else, and I just can't get back into it nor do I want to start again... I doubt I'll ever finish at this point but I still speak highly of it.

Cold War is damn near 150 gb just for the multiplayer by itself and it’s absurd I can’t have space for anything having that game on there

I took a break and came back, I put maybe 40-50 hours in last winter and started over when I came back last week but I plan on sticking with it and committing at least a couple full days of playing it every week so I can keep up with it. But it’s funny because this go around I feel much more familiar with the systems and how things work and am exploring and discovering way more and don’t feel nearly as lost as I did on my first try
