Quick reviews of the last handful that i've watched:

    Child's Play (2019)
funnier than i thought it would be. the logic behind Chucky makes a lot more sense imo in the remake than the original / original series. incorporating current technology and making it take place in current times was a great touch. had a blast, the entire cast was great as well.

    FearDotCom (2002)
I always wanted to watch this as a kid and could never find it at Blockbuster way back when. sadly, not very good, hilariously dated but some (some!) of the online website components with viewers and trying to get subscribers is eerily ahead of its time when compared to today's social media obsessions.

    Hellraiser (1987)
Whoa, this was a hell of a lot better than i thought it would. super strange as i knew / remember even though i'm not sure i actually ever saw this one before. will be curious to see how the new one does things. some great visuals!

    When a Stranger Calls (1979)
Great opening scenes and tension for the last 10 minutes or so. but uh... everything else was pretty lacking. some terrible acting and my biggest pet peeve with older films is the horrendous sound quality from scene to scene and the screaming. i swear there was one recorded scream for all of the 70's and every movie used it lol

    Host (2020)
super relevant to the times but i wonder how confused audiences will be in 10-15 years (hopefully maybe even in 2-3 years...) with the reference to quarantining and when one character puts on a mask to go outside. effective and quick (only an hour!) but idk it felt like something was missing.

    Eyes Without a Face (1959)
This was better than i expected and kind of kept getting better as it went along. shocked this hasn't been remade yet. a great story with some squirmy scenes even though this isn't early 2000's torture porn. definitely worth checking about by warning for some - subtitles!

    The Invisible Man (2020)
one of those films where knowing the main cast made me care more than i probably would have otherwise, which usually i don't like knowing the cast. tense, creepy and moves fast for two hours.

    Raw (2016)
yo what the fuck. this was pretty insane. aside from some weird one-off scenes that confused me a bit this was always a great, disturbing ride. grisly visuals and didn't know where the story, this was a great ride that i was definitely on board for.

  3. No comment on New Nightmare lol. Angel was awesome though, and Terror Train is a blast

I would say Malignant cause it’s only gonna be on HBO Max for a couple more days. Don’t sleep on The Descent though, incredible film.

Yeah, Malignant since it leaves Max in a few days but The Descent is one of the best.

New Nightmare is one of the rare times we disagree on horror.

Picked up VHS, Killer Clowns, and I Know Who Killed Me (yes, I know it's awful but I love it)

I’ve watched Saw every year since 2004, and somehow, I’m still surprised every time I see Danny Glover.

I just watched Jennifer's Body for the first time ever and it is already my favorite Diablo Cody film and I'm sorry I ever had any negative opinions of Megan Fox they both deserved so much better and I'm so glad people are finally loving this movie now

Finally watched VHS94 so I guess I'll weigh in late.

Storm Drain > The Subject > Terror > The Empty Wake > Holy Hell

I honestly didn't think there was a weak segment in this one, but I wasn't a huge fan of Holy Hell as the wrap around narrative, I thought it felt a bit bland.

This kinda sucked. Almost woulda been willing to forgive it if the big reveal wasn’t so transparent. Had a lot of the makings but just wound up being super boring

  17. Great pick-ups! I've never seen I Know Who Killed Me but I love awful movies, so I should probably add it to my list lol

  18. SHOCKED at how much I enjoyed The Voices despite it being a tonal clusterfuck. The ending ~almodst~ ruined it for me, but I'd still say it's definitely worth a watch.

Does anyone else get excited when Walmart do these Halloween slipcases every year?

Rewatched Halloween 2018 last night with some friends who hadn’t seen it. I still enjoy it, maybe even more so after listening to DGG on the Joe Bob special. All things considered, it’s a modern vision I can get behind. I hope that Kills is good, I’m excited for next week.

I'm thinking I wanna do a marathon of one of the classic slasher franchises over the next couple of weeks. I've only ever seen like maybe the first in most of them that aren't Saw, which one should I choose? Seems like most of them are on some sort of streaming service

If you have HBO Max: the Nightmare series. If you wanna seek out a quick franchise: Scream.
