So this was just announced.

I'm torn because I remember playing the original game on the PSP and fell in love with it, but I already own it on Steam (along with the rest of the series) and I feel like it's been remade a billion times now and I'm not sure if two new chapters is worth purchasing it again.

 

I'm pretty sure the previous ones were just upressed and that these are more than that. They won't bet GTA5 or anything, but a little more than just upressed.

 

Definitely something you’ll probably want to at least hear thorough hands on impressions with before going all in.

Eastward update.

I beat Earth Born for the first time, got the achievement, and got a couple of the rare Pixballs that are now unlocked.

However, I am now out of salt, and it's my understanding that now that I'm at the tower, I have no more salt bugs to farm from.

Soooooo... I'm going to go ahead and finish the main game and not worry about the other Earth Born achievements until they update with the Chapter Select. It's fine, I kind of wasn't really enjoying Earth Born anyway. A little too old school.

I finished Eastward.

So... I'm a little lost still but I'm starting to sort of put some pieces together.

What I'm gathering is that some bright minds decided to cull humanity into something better and brighter by using a combination of the Miasma and the Mother project, and then somewhere along the way, something went horribly wrong? Like Mother went Skynet for some reason and started using the Miasma to destroy humanity?

And I'm guessing the army of Alvas at the end made by Isabel were just empty shells created via this human growth project? I'm also assuming that Isabel herself was a product of this, based on the early hints that she was "made" for Alva?

But I'm still really foggy on how Mother came to be Sam, how she came under the care of the Knights, and how she managed to escape from Ester City, since that's where she was apparently from?

And what was Solomon's deal? Why was he so bonkers and why did he show up as a child and a young man at different points of the game if he was always an old man in Ester City? And what was up with those Solomon keys (Solomon's Key, lol)? And why did he rip off Zelda's Triforce?

And is John just a dude? Or is he also a product of this human growth project? There's been some questions surrounding John throughout the game, I feel, and it would be interesting if maybe he was also grown? To maybe be Sam's protector like how Isabel was "made" for Alva?

I feel like the world just wasn't fleshed out enough, and I'm not sure if that's because the developers are intending to make a sequel or if they have DLC plans or if they just felt like leaving some things up to audience interpretation.

Anyway, I did really enjoy my time with the game, and I still intend to come back to it in the future to get the remaining achievements. But for now I'll move on to other things.

I'm thinking I might play another Chucklefish game next. I have a bunch of stuff by them: Timespinner, Pathway, Inmost. Not sure which I'll pick.

It's definitely a mixed bag. I get why they did it, but I feel like they could have just found another way.

 

metroid dread is giving me another reason to buy a switch...hopefully i make that happen by christmas
