I’d rather never win a WS but get to watch Judge play his whole career as a Yankee for a decade than see him as a Dodger.

 

I care more about Judge deserving it on what he's done, am I optimistic about the end of a deal for a guy that big and athletic? Not particularly. But Judge and Stanton back to back is my best bet for enjoyment the next six years. Pay the guy that's made them so much money.

As good as Judge is when healthy, he’s going to be 30 years old next year and has only played over 150 games once in his career. You really want to give him a big long term contract and hope his body won’t break down as he gets older?

I don’t know I just get Richie Sexson vibes from him in terms of how tall he is and how his body just broke down on him and he was out of the league before he was 35.

Yeah I wouldn’t rush signing him either. Let him play next year and then talk to him. If he has a down year/gets hurt maybe the price tag comes down.

 

Yes. I like watching my favorite players play for my favorite team instead of the Dodgers. It’s super simple.

I get it but sometimes making the best move for the franchise is different from personal feelings.

 

It’s really not. My personal enjoyment is why I watch sports. I don’t care how much money the billionaires spend or lose or any of that at all.

 

I don’t get the hesitation for the most valuable franchise in the country, in a league with no salary cap, to extend their best or second best player.

 

Short answer: yes I do

Long answer: it's not like anybody is giving him a ten year contract. I think six or so does it. And he's the only player to have five WAR every season since '17 regardless of games played ('20 not included obviously) Yankees payroll is like 40% of their revenue so yeah I want them to pay him lol.

He also clearly learned how to play smartly to keep himself on the field, as much as I love his all out shit, I'd go back in time and tell Ken Griffey Jr to ease it up if it meant I saw him have the HR record.

 

Yeah he’s not getting 10 but I could see a team give him 7 or 8 years.
