Crit chance on bow attack and spear special are two of my favorite builds. Also, anything where you can hold down attack, like fists, rail (especially with 3-shot burst), and the Daedalus upgrade for the bow

All this Hades talk made me jump back in. I beat it with maxed Extreme Measures! Went full cheese on dodge chance haha

 

Bow was my first success actually. There's also a daedalus upgrade that makes it extremely fast/powerful (I see that the poster above me already mentioned it). Chain lightning/Artemis arrows also make the bow particularly viable

Best weapon is spear for me/ worst is sword.

 

Interesting I might start trying the bow more now that im deeper in and the upgrades sound like it becomes worthwhile

 

Honestly, you’re best off using whatever weapon is offering the 20% extra darkness whenever you’re choosing your weapon. Especially early on, you want to get those mirror upgrades knocked out ASAP.

 

That’s what I’ve mostly been doing besides when it’s bow but that was only once where I skipped it when it had the bonus

 

Ive been buying every indie game release in sight lately. I bought Deaths Gambit Afterlife on thurs and have been playing a lot. It is a fucking great metroidvania with soulslike combat. I know thats a trope these days but this game just does a few things diffeently and the visuals are awesome.


Truly have been loving every minute more than most metroidvanias

 

Bought Deaths Gambit a month ago on sale for PS5 not knowing Afterlife wasnt releasing for it till later. Excited to try it eventually

For Hades, the shield upgrade that will fling out multiple shields on a charged attack is so damn good when you upgrade it a few times

 

I think bow was my first completed run as well. Personally I prefer to hang back and use distance attacks.

 

See, that’s how I was in Returnal and found that you are FAR more effective with the sword and and close range weapons.

 

Anyone talking about how they do free timed trials on games like Sackboy and Death Stranding now so you can play the games before you buy it?

Only stipulation is that the timer starts when you BEGIN the download not when you start up the game for the first time.

A good idea that's horribly executed.

 

Death Stranding doesn't seem like a game that lends itself to really "try it out" with a free timed trial. Game starts, they talk for two hours and then your trial us up.
(Have not played it but that is what it sort of sounds like, lol)

I've only completed Symphonia and Arise. Arise was so incredible.

 

Berseria is my favorite by far.

 

out of curiosity how many attempts did it take everyone for your first escape?

 

28 was my magic number with the Rail Gun for escape number 1

 

42 tries, bow.

After that first escape I was able to beat it with regularity until I started getting aggressive with the post-game pacts

word im at 15 and have only made it to the hydra once but it went so well i think ill get it next time i get to it

 

So the gamepass trial is basically blockbuster lol if you didn’t rent another game for a few days and then return it and rent it again, were you even really a gamer?
