    Don't be that guy

It's fine. Go in with appropriate expectations and it's fine.

Carcass was fun. Riffs were good.

Spiritbox is not my thing at all but we need more women, POC, and members of the LGBTQ community in metal so if they are blowing up and bringing in some much needed diversity in the genre's fan base I am all for it.

I’m all for that but people are acting like they are this revolutionary band.

I don’t have to pretend to enjoy something just because the members are women or queer or POC. shit was generic drivel to my ears but I understand a lot of people are digging it and that’s fine too. They’re gonna be alright and do just fine even if I find it to be derivative and unenjoyable

This show was dope. My buddy, Eddie from Soledad put it on and did a great job. Super diverse lineup. All the bands were great, but Caustic, in particular, absolutely killed it. Probably gonna drive up to OKC next week to see them open for Gatecreeper.

I don't like it either, I just know that quite a few gay people seem to like them and me being a gay metalhead is all for bringing more people into the scene even the band that they got into the scene with is a snoozefest.

But musically, yeah they are boring. Lol. I just want more gay people in the metal scene. :3

    a literal succubitch

Spiritbox sounded generic to my ears on first listen too until I actually dug deeper into their music. Their song structures are so much different than the average -core band going right now and they remind me a touch of Silent Planet. Their rhythm section is particularly refreshing because instead of constant blasting or metalcore skank beats with overproduced plastic-sounding drums they take what feels like a much more pulled-back and restrained approach (kind of like how if you hear Meshuggah's drummer talk about how he had to chill the fuck out and lean back, relax and focus in order to play Bleed because of how technical those drum patterns are).

Also, their vocalist has incredible control over her voice whether it's screams or clean singing. This might only be interesting to me as a vocalist myself with years of experience in both classical singing and harsh vocals and that's fine too. All in all though if you find them to be generic, I think it's because you're not listening closely enough (unless you're the type who listens to much more experimental metal on the reg, that's different; no wonder it sounds boring to you if that's your main diet) - but also, nobody is required to like something either even if they don't like it, representation aside.

If that were the case, I'd be required to enjoy all the mega-boring symphonic metal projects that Napalm Records sign on no matter how technically proficient the musicians and vocalist might be. As an aside on a similar note, it bothers the fuck outta me the way women often get pigeonholed into symphonic metal and little else, actually.

New project from members of Tomb Mold and Innumerable Forms. Doomy death metal with somewhat "dreamy" instrumentals in parts. It probably shouldn't work, but it kinda does. Kinda really.

Dude just pissed every metal band off. I’ve been on Twitter reading posts this morning and it’s funny as hell.

Somehow totally missed that the Carcass record came out. Listened to it yesterday and loved it. Really hope I get an opportunity to finally see them soon.

If this is regarding Carcass, their earlier material was more grindy and they then shifted into making melo death. Their record Heartwork was huge for the genre and would be great to check out if you've never listened to them.

I'm inevitably going to cry when Metallica plays a 500 cap venue here and I don't find out about it until tickets are all gone.

Speaking of the new Carcass, this green on green splatter variant came out looking great.

Yeah like @OneWing mentioned, they did goregrind stuff earlier akin to Exhumed before going more melodic. Definitely listen to their album Heartwork.
