I don't know what I would do if I couldnt trust my own take on an album or if my first reaction was to absolutely hate all albums. That's also crazy to me.

Compared with BiBi, I think this album lacks the immediate appeal of songs like "Perth," "Holocene," and "Beth/Rest." Those songs just grabbed me right away, first time I heard them.

I love 22 Over Soon but there are some choices he made on that song that I don't like and that keeps it out of top tier BI songs for me.

Maybe it's just me, but I have literally no inclination to watch/listen to the festival set. Same goes for when any band debuts songs live. Or when anything leaks in low quality. I'm more than happy to wait and hear it in HQ as it deserves to be heard.

I usually feel the same but the live set download is actually very very good. Usually I dodge low quality leaks unless I really want to hear it, which I did with this.

I'm super weird, and can't remember the last time I felt pre-release hype. Like, I love and fan over great albums when I get them still, I'm just pretty indifferent about a project until it's out.

I'm like this. There's so much good music being released every week that I can be listening to, that I'm never so desperate to hear anything that badly that I would go to the effort of downloading a low quality leak.

  12. So far my favorites are "29 #Strafford APTS" and "8 (circle)".

    what a waste of wood

Yep. It's my favorite moment on the record to. You're very right about how strong it comes back in after crackling pan trick or whatever you want to call it. I think it's fucking brilliant.

I'm so excited to hear the future live versions of all of these songs. I'd particularly love to hear CREEKS and GOD in a piano only style like the 4AD sessions. Which is quite possibly my favorite live performance of all time.

Prettymuch my exact feelings. I quite like the new direction he's taken, but it makes for an album that tends to blur together at points. The final 5, 6 tracks, they all sounded nice but I didn't even notice when a new song started.

i think the new one is super immediate. songs like creeks, god, 666, circle, were all instantly memorable to me.

To me, that is more of a strength than a weakness. The last 4 tracks definitely run together a bit but it feels intentional, like each one adds to all the others when listened to in sequence. Gives the album more of a cohesive feel.

but 8 (circle) doesn't blend together with anything. sure the transition from moon water to it blends but the actual song is probably the biggest standout on the album. i have those verses running through my head all the time.
