I can't stop with Concussion - it reminds me of older Emery. This one isn't hitting me the same way, but I'll give it some time.

From the looks of the video I think Josh is looping some parts

Are people watching the livestream on the 16th? I’ve not got a ticket yet. Not 100% sure. I respect the idea and want to support them innovating, but I’d rather watch songs I know on a tv screen if that makes sense (loved the I’m Only A Man stream for instance).

  4. I hope so, I haven't checked the start time for my timezone, and I'm not sure I'll be able to stay awake after my day shift is over, but I'll catch the replay tomorrow I guess.

Also, "Enemy" is great. Quite different for them with its old school post-hardcore vibe.

    How was the show?

  7. I'm going to watch it in a moment, I'll be right back with some super-hyped thoughts!

  8. This rips so far, as the pre-release singles indicated, I hear some 90s post-hardcore in the heaviness here, with all the spoken word and shouted vocal parts. The new guitarist is killing it, I had no idea he was doing some clean vocals as well.

Also, I just heard something interesting. There's the line "I've got a bad feeling about this" on the fourth song, sung in an almost identical way to Taking Back Sunday's A Decade Under The Influence except in a different key. Got to be an intentional reference?

  9. Well, that was fantastic. I can see why they decided to go back and revisit I'm Only A Man recently, because this one feels like a spiritual successor to it musically, down to the alt rock vibes and the long epic closer. Perhaps the penultimate one aside, every song felt like a standout, something I hadn't gotten from an Emery album in quite a while. They really nailed it, and I'm looking forward to listen to the audio version as well as the official one in November.

    What a band.

Damn Concussion is amazing. The last two minutes is better than anything off WLF. Didn't even realize Emery about to release a new album till I saw them mentioned in the "albums in stores" thread. Looking forward to this!

So they’ve put the Rub Some Dirt On It video mix up for download on Discord and I have to say, I’m really enjoying it. The opening track is wild and the best they’ve done for a while.

It’s going to be interesting to see if I prefer this version or the more polished album version whenever that comes.

The Question live video mix is also available on the public Discord too if anyone is interested.

What they mean by video mix? Is that different from the album version?

They recorded the album live essentially. Not sure if they're doing a full studio version

They’ve said that what is posted to streaming will be more polished. They’re using what they recorded and tidying it up for the ‘album’ version.

We reach for the longest shadow

watching this currently, on the last song. So far I dig it a lot more than WLF.

  23. Is this ever hitting streaming services? I admittedly haven't listened to it since it aired as my music listening habits heavily involve Spotify now.

It's incredible how much Toby has grown in his live performance. He used to sound quite rough back in the Weak's End days.
