So Triller has announced their newest commentator for the Belfort/Holyfield match.

Donald Fucking Trump.

My friend asked me what I thought they were paying him and where tf Triller gets all this money from.

Truly, I think Trump is desperate to get any platform he can to try and remain relevant and find this to be a big PR move. He’s trying hard not to fade into the dust because the public no longer hears any of his bullshit. He doesn’t have any interest in the fights, guaranteed his team told him this is a good move to make to keep people interested in him.

And unfortunately, they know the boxing/mma fans have plenty of Trump lovers so I’m not surprised. Triller likely also saw it as a big plus for themselves.

Damn, I just looked that up. That is some wild stuff. He did not sound good at all. I hope he gets some help before it gets any worse.

I hate to even say this, but him being mentally ill on some level almost makes it make a little more sense why he was roped in with that Fabia dude like Diego.

So basically they saw a golden opportunity to promote the Contender Series and that's all they were willing to give him....alright. haha.

Speaking of, I didn't even realize until the day of, but apparently a local fighter (whose amateur fights I've judged about a dozen times) was supposed to headline the Contender Series but someone on his team tested positive for COVID and it was scrapped. What a bummer.

 

I find it super unfortunate that all of the mma media cover triller events and I can’t escape it in my feed without unfollowing them.

They got Trump to call into the presser, continuously refer to him as “President Trump,” and then he told them all if he had a chance to box anyone it would be Biden and that he could beat him. Everyone, especially Tito, ate it up. The only person not entertained or even smiling was Anderson Silva. Truly hate the current state of combat sports.

 

I have a lot of thoughts on the "MMA Media" as it is. Not sure I want to take the time to write them all out, but covering this from any angle other than it being immoral is wrong and not worth anyone's time.

The more I read about the history of boxing, the more I realize things are always going to be this way in combat sports. There's always going to be circus fights, exhibitions, detestable people involved, etc. Things like this Triller event are always a reminder that combat sports are always going to be somewhat of a clown show.

This same headline is posted at least twice a year, even when he claims to have gotten “better”. At this point, it’s hard to know if you should feel sorry for him and his obvious issues or if he’s just not a good person. Sad either way.
